Subject: Is the stoner character a retro '80s/'90s thing?

You don't have many stoner duos, surfer dudes, etc. in '00s cinema. Whereas in the '80s and '90s you had tons. Beavis and Butthead, Bill and Ted, Point Break, Wayne's World, Cheech and Chong, and Jay and Silent Bob are all from the '80s and '90s.

Wayne's World weren't stoners, though. They were just slackers.

Well the slacker/idiot thing kind of fits in too.

What about shows like 'Dude Where's My Car?' and 'Harold and Kumar' (although the latter were stoner nerds, which is kind of weird). The stoner stereotype is alive and well.

There are still plenty of stoner dudes at my school. It's probably just a cinematic thing...that seemed very, very popular in the '90s.

Why does these forums have such a bad problem with gravedigging? Seriously, I don't see five year old threads (heck, threads more than week old, if that) being bumped up anywhere else I go.

Oh, but bumping long-dormant threads is a long and proud tradition here.
Speaking of which, isn't about time to dust off the old "anyone got any money?" thread again? ;D

I went ahead and took the initiative and did it myself.
Thanks for reminding me! :D

It's quite often guests or new members who do it. I'm not convinced it's not ex members trying to start up trouble.

Because most forums are still frequented by more than a few degenerate diehards? :)
Snark aside, I'm part of the problem. I usually try to make sure that when I necropost, I'm adding something new to the original poster's question.
Obligatory xkcd:
http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/wisdom_of_the_ancients.png
"Never have I felt so close to another soul, and yet so helplessly alone, as when I google an error, and there's one result: a thread by someone with the same problem, and no answer, lasted posted to in 2003."
- xkcd, Wisdom of the Ancients.
The original poster may have forgotten they ever asked the question, but the search engines never forget. A big part of why I keep coming back to inthe00s.com is because we're one of the few places that can answer questions like "Who were you, Former00zer9, what did you see?", even if the original post was from 2003.
