It takes at least 20 years after the end of a decade to truly define it.

I went with Early Digital/Information Age, although Late Industrial and Second Cold War are good contenders, too.
I'd say the Digital Age has its roots around 1986/87, started to get big by 1993, and became "household" and everywhere you looked (i.e. The Internet, digital electronics, cellphones) by 1999/2000.
I've said it before, but if you look at an average 2006 street or shopping center, other than seeing some newer cars and designs on buildings, and different fashions on people, it's not massively/standout different from the '80s. However, on closer examination (probably moreso in someone's home, which will have technology alot more noticeable and right there), it is starting to look like a different "era" than any time before 1986ish.

Early digital age. The digital age began c. 1982, IMO.

Digital Age/Information Age, whatever you want to call it, which began in the 80s, and will probably give way to society entirely dependent on technology by about 2030.
