So what do you think the 2nd half of 2006 (Jul. 1-Dec. 31) will be like?

I think it'll be even more of a move in the direction of 2005-2006...glam rap will be less popular and soft-rock will be more popular. I also think indiemo fandom and the subculture as a whole will take a hit and start softening out from its 2004ish peak, finally, and the preppie style will start to go out as severe '80s redux looks come in.

It will be the calm before the storm...a musical revolution will happen sometime in 2007; a second explosion of political, activist folk like in the early 60s, married with harsh, bare guitar music - i.e. a technology backlash sort of music, which we are already seeing. Slightly quirkly folkies like Davandra Bandhart, Joanna Newsome and the like will rise to prominence, as young people take in a softer sound. We'll also see a heavier rock sound, a return to a sharp punk sort of sound, and a revival in the associated punk lifestyle.

Maybe. I think that'll happen in 2012. 2007 is too soon, there are no signs of that happening yet.

Yeah, 2007 is probably a bit soon. Perhaps at the end of the decade, 2011ish.

I doubt it, in 2007 anyway. Too soon, I think there will be a gradual transition. It's happening as we speak actually.

I think there will be some revival of the late '80s-early '90s alternative hard rock scene (Sonic Youth, RHCP, etc.)

Yeah, I agree that there'll be a slight revival of late 80's altern rock in the late 00's. I also agree that the "musical revolution" probably wont happen until around 2011 but I think you'll see some signs of it as early as '07.

Yeah, I think people will get tired of the hipster scene of the early-mid '00s and start going to a more down to earth, late '80s-early '90s alternative rock style that will be the dominant "revivalist" mode through the mid '10s and be huge around 2012.

I think it will be even worse than the first, especially when K-Fed's CD comes out in Aug. At least now, the music may not be great, but there still are some listenable songs playing.

- There will be good times
- There will be bad times
- Natural disasters will occur
- People will die
- Wars will continue
- Horrendous music will continue to be released
- Excellent music will continue to be released
- Same with movies and TV (the above 2)
- People will be older than they are now

"High School Musical" gets banned from social outsiders since it doesn't reflect actual highschool and give it the nickname "Song of the Dumb"  ::) :P

Some of the teen idols of the late 90

I think that Skye Sweetnam's new album (scheduled for release in Aug. 06) will be a big hit and she will have a major breathru, making her the new teen idol of the mid to late 00's.

All remaining teen pop will die out, i.e. Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson. Lots of remaining generic '90s bands will release unsuccessful CDs and get dropped from labels.

She's knocked up again.  She's not coming back.  She's too busy giving Federslime more reasons to mooch off her money.
