Who do you think is a credit or asset to your sport, as a player or just as a decent human being?

I think Mark Martin is one of the best in NASCAR. Rarely does he get into trouble or controversy. A clean racer, and lots of other drivers look up to him and seek his advice. And Kyle Petty, who along with his wife started the Victory Junction Gang Camp for terminally ill children and holds a motorcycle ride for charity every year.

Mario Lemieux.  One of Canada's finest Hockey Players.  I honestly think had he not had so many injuries, he would have beaten (or came real close to beating) all of Gretzky's records,

My favourite sport is Australian Rules Football - but you probably haven't even heard of it, let alone know of any of the major players past and present.

Lou Gehrig. 


Such an amazing man and it was a damn shame that he died so young.

I'm not a fan of his, but Jeff Gordon is a pretty decent guy. Same for Carl Edwards.

Gilmour is great.  He's a native of my hometown.  He was here recently with Don Cherry and Ron McLean for the taping of episodes for Hockeyville 8)

well being that my favorite sport is Baseball, there are many that are a 'credit' to the sport.
I will narrow it down to my favorites,
1. Johan Santana , Pitcher , MN Twins
2. Derek Jeter, SS, NY Yankees
3. Albert Pujols, 1B, St. Louis Cardinals
4. Roger Clemens, Pitcher, Houston Astros
5. Bartolo Colon, Pitcher, LA Angels
6. Torii Hunter, CF, MN Twins
7. Alex Rodriguez, 3B, NY Yankees(though I can't stand A Rod)
8. David Ortiz, DH, Boston Red Sox
9. Joe Nathan , Pitcher, MN Twins
10. Joe Mauer, Catcher, MN Twins
11. A. J.  Pierzynski, Catcher, Chicago White Sox

The Philadelphia Eagles have Tra Thomas, who is a credit to his community as well as his team.

For NASCAR, I'd have to add Matt Kenseth. Usually a non-controversial driver. Unless someone like Kevin Harvick, and most recently Jeff Gordon, does anything to get under his skin. Then watch out.  ;)
