Subject: Don't see RENT

Written By: QueenAmenRa on 11/27/05 at 10:27 am

Yeah I only went to see it because I like the song "Seasons of Love" and I wanted to see if the show was any good.  Good thing they started the movie with that song because evrything else was CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I'm sure the STORY was ok, and I usually love musicals.....but dude, some things just should not be set to music

Needless to say, I didn't sit past the first 15 minutes

That bad, eh?

I knew it was gonna be waaaaaaaay too over-hyped.. I mean, NO movie can be THAT good.

Plus, I'm getting really sick of that quote about measuring a year.. God DAMN That got annoying.

It's pointless to see a movie about a show you've never seen. You wouldn't understand it, nonetheless.

Uhh... .. You weren't there long enough to be able to say it sucked.

Eh, I liked it a lot.

I have learned NOT to take people's advice about movies. There have been many movies where people had said that it was great and I thought it really sucked. Or where someone said that it sucked but I thought it was really good. To each his/her own and it is just a matter of taste.

No, I haven't seen the movie yet-but would like to. I would also like to see the play, too-maybe some day.  I have often discovered that when they turn plays into movies-they basically rewrite it-cut out a lot, add stuff, etc, etc.  >:(  I have found that I often like the play much better than the movie-so when I do see the movie of Rent, I will bare that in mind.

FYI for those of you who do not know-Rent is based on the Opera La Boheme.

Hmmm.....didn't know that....
I have seen a recording of La Boheme......can't really see the connection.  Oh well.    Like I said the story was probly interesting but I just couldn't sit through those awful songs.

Isn't it true that the cast of Rent is all unknown actors? People that were in the Broadway version? I haven't seen either the movie or the play so I can't comment on it.

^ I haven't seen the movie nor the play, so me neither can comment. But I think Grease is still the best musical of all time! GO GREASE!

Rosario Dawson

Except for one thing, Daphne Rubin Vega, the Broadway Mimi, was replaced at the last minute by Rosario Dawson, a big mistake. And I was never a fan of Chris Columbus films, not even the Harry Potter movie.
Don't go see it on stage, then.

Rent is a good movie.  It has a lot of the original Broadway stars, who were unknowns at the time, like Taye Diggs and the black guy from Law and Order.
