I miss Fastlane too. It was quite a popular show. They cancelled it because it was to expensove to make: each episode cost about the price of a motion picture

You know, despite Matt Groening being the man behind this show, I never quite got into it as much as The Simpsons...BUT I have to agree with you. :)
It was kinda themed like 2015 from BTTF II - an exaggerated and humorous year 3000. Being a fan of that kind of comedy really drew me to the earlier episodes, even if I rarely watched it after Season 1 or 2.

"That's Life", a drama that premiered on CBS five years ago today, and was canned after only 2 seasons. :-[ I kinda liked the storyline; it seemed kinda interesting to me, but I didn't get to watch it every week because I didn't have my own tv.

I forgot about Early Edition. That was simply a wonderful show. Kyle Chandler (who played Gary Hobson) is such a good actor :)
He is co-starring in the upcoming King Kong re-make :)

Another show that starred Kyle Chandler (that died before it's time IMO) was Homefront. It was consistantly well done.

Wasn't he also in "Homefront"? I really liked that too. I just saw one of the actresses from that in something the other day, but I forget what. Law & Order maybe? She was playing a Medical Examiner.
The actress that played Mrs. Sloan (the rich byatch) went on to play Dharma's mother (the hippie) on Dharma and Greg.  It's such a polar opposite of the character she played on Homefront, it's awesome.
Also, Mr. Sloan, plays on the sitcom, Scrubs.  He's a sarcastic and grumpy Doctor on there.

I'm surprised anybody likes Futurama better than The Simpsons.
I watch "Futurama," but I think "The Simpsons" was both the greatest animated TV series and the greatest situation comedy in the history of television.
Simpsons also raised the standards for both cartoons and sit-coms. If it was not for Simpsons, there would be no Family Guy. Perhaps Seinfeld would not have been as funny if viewers hadn't come to expect more sophistacation from situation comedy.
I look at Night Court, which was one of the better '80s sit-coms and one of my faves at the time, and it's pretty much of a dud by today's standards. Only a few pre-Simpsons sit-coms still make the grade, such as All In The Family, Taxi, and Cheers.
I also fell in love with Matt Groening's Life In Hell cartoon books the year before The Simpsons became its own series. I remember laughing so hard I couldn't breathe while reading Work is Hell, and School is Hell!
http://hell.capefeare.com/wall2-small.gif
I do say by 2003, although The Simpsons was still going strong, it had outlived its cultural paradigm. What do I mean? Well, I'd rather not launch into a lengthy pop cultural analysis...I mean, jeezus, there's enough of that already!

Even though the two shows are from Matt Groening, Simpsons is still far superior.

"Boston Public" was a great show. My cable company dropped the channel that was showing the reruns, but the episodes I saw were excellent. It helped that Denis Leary was just another character and didn't get to take everything over with his big ego!

'Toons:
Duckman (w/ Jason Alexander)
Oblongs (w/Will Ferrell)
Mission Hill
Home Movies (w/Paula Poundstone)
Aqua Teen Hunger Froce (cancelled or not?)
These "Adult Swim" cartoons were never high in the ratings, so it seems more likely the creative forces behind them went on to other projects. I never really looked into it, though.
"Duckman" (featuring Jason Alexander) was pre-Adult Swim, on the USA network, but it was Adult Swim-esque. One critic nailed it when he said "Duckman" was "as funny as the Simpsons and as gross as South Park."

I think that Star Trek: The Next Generation should never have been canceled, It may sound geeky that i'm a star trek goonie, but that show rocked, I also didn't want to see Are You afraid of the dark? on nickelodeon go either.
Reasons I miss Star Trek: TNG
- Holodeck (so cool) 8)
- Story
- Episode "The Naked Now" or something, so funny
- Patrick Stewart (the perfect person for the part) (could so kick Shatner's Ass)
- Dr. Crusher
- The graphics (at the time were so sweet)
- Dr. Crusher ;D

One from 1985 I liked, although if I saw it today, I'd probably think it was pretty dumb:
OTHERWORLD
This program was like "Lost in Space," but it was time/dimension travel rather than space travel.
http://www.crazyabouttv.com/Images/otherworld.jpg
One season, eight episodes, and that's all she wrote, baby!
http://www.crazyabouttv.com/otherworld.html
My favorite episode was "Village of the Motorpigs." It had a "Road Warrior" kind of theme. Twenty years later I can't say I remember much else about it, other than it was my favorite "Otherworld," and it had "Road Warrior" kind of theme.
