None should be cancelled by the government.  That's unconstitutional.
I can only dream the taste and intelligence of the American people will someday dry up the market demands for pablum such as MTV, FOX News, home shopping, E!, and Pat Robertson.
Ain't never gonna happen in my lifetime, though! 
I do wish our government would act like the leadership of a mature democratic republic than a juvenile fascist state.  That way it would be happy to fund generously non-commercial networks such as PBS without pounding them with corporatist mandates every time they dare criticise the military-industrial complex!

When did MTV stop playing music videos?  I've never had the pleasure of watching MTV so I don't know  :D

If I remember right it was sometime around the early 90's. 1993 I believe when the "real world" began.

Yeah at like 2am in the morning when basically no one is up.  VH1 isn't much better though, but they do play some music in the mornings at least.

Every time I scan past MTV it's always some booty-shakin' hoochie-coochie number.  Unless you're a 13-year-old with perm-o-wood, that gets reeeaaallly tiresome after three minutes.

BET is just ridiculous!  The do the late night BET videos which are the hoochie-coochiest, booty-shakingest videos allowed on non-premium cable, and then in a flicker the programming changes to Bible-thumping televangelists!
It reminds me of that awful '80s flick "Crimes of Passion" (Kathleen Turner, Tony Perkins), in which Tony Perkins plays a crazed street-preacher who whips himself into a wanton frenzy on dirty peep-shows and then runs into the street and screams fire-and-brimstone, hell-and-damnation about the wages of lust and sin! Pretty twisted stuff!

On a show the other night, one of the hosts described a certain hollywood actress using a certain four letter acronym for the vulgar term for attractive older women.  I couldn't believe I was hearing that on TV!  These shows just reflect what society allows anyway.

I have hated MTV for SO long... Its all trash, I did like the 1st season of the Osbournes though... I also loved the Tom Green Show... But Im a geek... I have HATED MTV SINCE THEY TOOK OFF 120 MINUTES AND HEADBANGERS BALL...  I loved to watch H B BAll with my best friends, we would stay over each others houses and watch, she liked the hair bands, I liked the harder stuff but as for 120 MInutes..... THAT WAS ALL GREAT GREAT MUSIC... SONIC YOUTH, LEMONHEADS, WHERE ARE U??????????  :\'(

MTV, or at least be forced to play music videos for once.  ::)
