I did my undergraduate Honor's Thesis on William Miller-well, he was just a part of it. My thesis was how the Industrial Revolution influenced the Second Great Awakening. I used the William Miller & John Humphrey Noyes (the Prefectionists) as case studies because both had roots in this area. In fact, Miller's chapel is only about 2 miles from where I am sitting right now-along with his grave. I did touch a bit on Joseph Smith (the Mormons) because he was from this area, too.

What cracked me up about the Millerites were the fact that they gave everything away, donned white robes and climbed onto rooftops and trees so the "ascent into Heaven would be shorter."  ;D ;D ;D
