Subject: Any Terminator fans?
Written By: quirky_cat_girl on 08/20/05 at 12:31 pm
Are any of you fans of the "Terminator" movies? I just watched, "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" for the second time and I actually thought that this was the best out of the three. I also heard that they are planning on making Terminator 4 sometime next year....has anyone else heard that?
Erin :)

I love The Terminator. I think Terminator 2 was the best, but the other two were pretty darn good, too. Terminator is the movie that caused me to fall madly in lust with Michael Beihn.

I liked the 1st and 2nd ones, haven't seen the third - I think the 2nd is better (especially for the effects).

The first one is the best.

Rise of the Machines was a CG-laden re-tread of T2. It was an expected disappointment because Cameron wasn't attached to it. There was no need to resurrect the Terminator franchise outside of greed and effortless marketability. They said all they needed to say at the end of Judgment Day. I agree with Jamie, the first one was the best. The second one was alright, but the boy should have been killed instead of Ahnuld because he was so annoying. The Diff'rent Strokes kid should have also perished in the film. You can't always get what you want, though; hence, the next chapter in the Terminator franchise.

Terminator 4 without Arnold, could it work?

Just a bit of trivia: Did you guys know that Arnold's dad was a Nazi? Link.
I read rumors that "The Rock" will be the next Terminator if they decide to go forward with it. They're just that, though: rumors.

I kind of have my doubts if the movie can work if The Rock takes overs as The Terminator.

The Rock has expressed interest in being the Terminator if they decide to do another one.
I think that the first one was the best of all of them....by far....the second one was ruined by that crappy ending

Yea, along with roughly 65% of the people of Austria and Germany at the time.
And if you read that article, you should also know that they were estranged, with Arnold not even going to his father's funeral.

Terminator 4 without Arnold, could it work?
Actually I think it could work without Arnold, as sacreligious as that sounds. Arnold isn't really needed for a story that centers around the human resistance movement against the Machines. Arnold's Terminator 800 series was considered brand new in 2029 anyway, so the movie could go full circle, with it ending with Arnold being sent through the time portal for the first film.

That is an interesting idea, i'd certianley go and see it, being a bit of a Terminator Junkie!
I think Dwayne Johnson (he must hate that people know his real name) would make an Interesting Terminator. He's actually proved himself to be a decent actor and i think it would definatley be worth a try!

I bet Howie Long would make a good Terminator.

Well, it could be done very easily. Remember in #2, when Arnold said that he was the newest in a series of Terminators. They could use some other actor as the earlier incarnations.
Then at the end, simply give him a brief cameo. After all, logically the movie would be about SkyNet and the resistance. The "Terminators" of Arnold's series will not exist again for roughly 20 years.

I agree with this as far as anyone can play the T100 but the cameo could be a stretch. Maybe if its just some Arnold proto type in a big tank of sci-fi bubble water it could work.
T2 is my favorite by far. The T-1000 is one of the best models in my opinion. The part where he is flying the helicopter with two hands and creates a third to shoot the shotgun is just freaking awesome. The fact he doesn't have a skeleton makes him far better at shape shifting in all regards. A persons hight means nothing, unlike with the T-X, and better yet he doesn't even have to hide as a person at all. Walls, floors, that trash can in the corner of your room :-\\, its all good. Even the weapon is cooler. Any sucker can use a gun/over powered arm cannon while he uses a sword. Basically the T-1000 is the T-Ninja!
The series should have died after T2 because it closes the temporal loop nicely. Maybe if in T3 they did a better job of explaining how with all the traces of the T-800 removed they were still able to make SkyNet. It was this models processor that was used to found the research that lead to SkyNet processor so with it destroyed you think it would have died. If in T3 they said some lab monkey backup up the research a week before the lab was destroyed it could allow for the continuation of the paradox. However SkyNet of the future is created by its own existence in the past so effectively removing the paradoxical elements in the past that creates future SkyNet ends the saga and closes the loop.

As long as The Rock does a nude scene in Terminator 4, I'm all for it. :D
As for Terminator1,2 or 3, I think I like the 2nd one the best.

I dunno if I'd be comfortable with that Chrissy. It would depend what kind of pie was on offer.. if ya smell what the original Rock.. is cooking.
