What do you think of the Willy Wonka movie coming out in July?

I personally can't wait to see what Tim Burton's done with it.

The orginal with Gene Wilder is a classic. I really hate how they have to remake classics. As much as I love Johnny Depp, I am just afraid that this may be a mistake. But, I will give it the benefit of the doubt until I actually see it.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that the original movie LOOSELY followed the book. It seems to me that the Johnny Depp version is going to be a major adaptation of the book (hell, this movie even has the squirrels in it).

I don't think you can call this version a remake. It is more like another movie on the same subject.

I think they should have cast Johnny Depp in the head Oompah Loompah (sp?) role. Tom Cruise would make a good one, too...

Have you ever read the second book? Roald Dahl had to be on something to write it. ;D

Not to say that Roald Dahl is a horrible writer or anything. I loved "James and the Giant Peach". :)

I for one, cannot wait to see it! I LOVE the orignial movie, and I know that this one will be a LOT different...but it looks very interesting to say the least!

burton/depp are an amazing duo, i for one love both of their works and i think this film will be very good, i will be watching it as soon as it comes out, the film seems alot 'darker' than the original but thats what you expect from them two

I always thought the original film hit a sinister note itself when the group entered the factory. Something about it always made me feel uneasy. Love the movie though. :) Tim Burton is a master of atmosphere, so it will be interesting to see where he takes the dark morality of Dahl's book.

I saw the commerical for it for the first time yesterday. It looks....DARK-but did you really expect anything else from Tim Burton?
