Samantha Mumba (any1 remember her?)-Gotta Tell You
Craig David (I liked his music too!)-Fill Me In
Vitamin C (I consider her a 1-hit wonder)-Graduation
Eden's Crush-"Get Over Yourself" 2001
Dream-"He Loves U Not"-2000
Vertical Horizon-Everything U Want
Uncle Kracker
Blaque
JoJo...may be too early to tell, but I think she's done

Vertical Horizon-Everything U Want
Uncle Kracker
I consider all of these inaccurate.
Craig David also had "I'm Walking Away" and that one about the days of the week.
Vitamin C had "The Itch", but yeah, she was the closest to a one-hit wonder
Dream had another song, that had more success. It came out first.. I forget the title, though.
Vertical Horizon was certainly not a one-hit wonder. Did you forget "Gray Sky Mourning" or "You're A God"?
Uncle Kracker? Close, but no cigar. He also had that cover of that "Drift Away" song.

No "Fuel" and "Eve 6" are not one hit wonders. Fuel had hits like "Shimmer", "Bittersweet", "Hemmorage(In My Hands)", and "Bad Day"
Eve 6 is not a one hit wonder they are a 2 hit wonder with "Inside Out" being a hit from late 1998/early 1999 and "Here's To The Night" from 2001.

Today's musicians don't have staying power. Can anyone name a handful of bands that will be around in 15-20 years? Like modern-day versions of U2, Michael Jackson, Madonna, etc. (Sorry to go off topic).

Franz ferdinand had anothe r hit (or at least song i remember) with do you really wanna or something like that. Speaking of american idol, kelly clarkson and daughtry both have a good chance of sticking around for a while as long as they don't ruin their vocal chords. Alicia keys probably isn't disappearing either. Chris Brown obviously wants to be a modern day michael jackson without quite so much controversy, and maybe he wll be. Pop stars usually have tons of writing help and the best ones can have long careers as long as they don't self-destruct or lose interest, but rock bands have to rely more on their own ability to keep writing interesting music and it's very hard to tell who will do that.

Franz Ferdinand (who have 8 UK Top 40 hits to their credit) are just about to release a third album. The lead single 'Lucid Dreams' is already a success in Canada where it reached #35 not more than a month ago
Norah Jones has done better in Canada as well as overseas with several Top 40s. 'Don't Know Why' remains her only US Top 40
Glenn Lewis has performed much better in his native Canada with a few popular hits. So far, he's just released 1 album, with an apparent forthcoming album to be released soon

Yet I'm sure she's had other airplay hits in US (even if they did poorly on the charts), such as "Come Away With Me" and "Sunrise", which I know I've heard on the radio in 2003-04 (and possibly '05 as well).

Those would have gotten radio play yes. Outside of the Hot 100, she has done well on the Billboard A/C charts

Funny you mention that whistledog.
I travel up to Welland on business every couple a months and I notice that the stations DEFINITELY play lots more Canadian artists in the rotation.
But after a while, just how much Celine Dion, Alanis Morrissette, and Sarah McLachlan can you listen to up there? They haven't had any new stuff for a while?

We have other steady chart holders like Nelly Furtado, Three Days Grace, Finger Eleven and the ever popular Tragically Hip. I should start a thread on it .. some of the music we have in the charts lately is the best Canadian music has been since the early 90s

Well, that's because Canadian radio stations are required by law to play a minimum amount of Canadian-made music:

Yeah, I can't believe that Vanessa Carlton's career fizzled after 2002's "A Thousand Miles." Her following work wasn't nearly as well received. It's a shame. I thought that "White Houses" from 2004 was absolutely brilliant. I think it's one of the best songs of the decade.
According to Vanessa Carlton's Wikipedia page, her record label didn't like the darker, more experimental direction her music took after "A Thousand Miles," so they provided less promotional support for it. That's why it wasn't as commercially successful. It's really too bad.

Vanessa's personality is what killed her career. She would not listen to the record execs for starters. And in interviews she came off as rather stuck on herself, like she was self-important or something. Was too bad because "A Thousand Miles" showed potential for her as an artist.
By the way I did not know that she was of the Canadian persuasion.

I wouldn't really consider Saliva a "one-hit wonder," since they've had other songs like "Your Disease" and "Ladies and Gentlemen" that were probably almost as successful as "Always." "Your Disease" is actually my favourite song by them.
