Subject: Your Favorite Songs of 2005

Vote for your favorite '05 songs, some came out in late '04 but still are popular. This list is some of what I am currently know, but there's a lot more out there of course feel free to add your own picks. I'll go with Let me go, Mr. Brightside, and Karma.

Some interesting picks. Some haven't been released yet over here in the UK, such as Coldplay's new one (which i've been dying to hear for ages), and i've only heard the Foo Fighter's new one today, which apparently was its debut. One of my favourite songs of the year is the Stereophonic's 'Dakota', and I also like The Killers' 'Somebody Told Me', which came out in January.

Isn't there already a thread featuring this very topic? For 2005 (late 2004), I pick Goin' Crazy, Incomplete, Hollback Girl, and Blue (Da Ba Dee). The last one was actually a somg of 1999, which is;evidently, still here!
:)

The best song so far has DEFINITELY been "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keene, Came out in 2004, but is only getting mainstream pay here now.

Stacy's Mom...I just think it's a well-crafted pop song...
What I'm REALLY waiting for is P.O.D. finishing their new CD...It's going to be even better than the previous stuff according to the website and people in the know!

"Mr. Brightside," which isn't as good as "Somebody Told Me" but is still solid is one.
"Chariot," which has some of the best lyrics I've heard in pop in years, is another (though I have a soft spot for Gavin, because I was a fan before he was famous :))
and my 3rd choice was 'other.' That "other" is "Devils and Dust" by Bruce Springsteen. A moving, somber, poigniant song that proves Bruce has still got it!

Here are some others that are still popular, but not on the list. Some of them are from late 2004 and before that are still popular, but fading away.
Diana Degarmo: Emotional (2004)
Asyln: Be the Girl (2004)
Frankie J/Baby Bash Obsession (2005)
OutKast/Santana I Love the Way You Moved (2004)

I don't really know those first 2, but yeah the last 2 are good. The Way You Move by Outkast is definitely a 2004 song, it was big in earlier 2004, it of course was the second single of the speakerboxx/the love below album after hey ya.

Interesting flashback to what I was playing 6 years ago, I'd still keep "Karma" and "Mr Brightside" but I'd probably drop "Let Me Go" (they had better songs) a few I'd add would be something like "Feel Good inc", "Right Here" by Staind, "Holiday" which I already had on this list. I remember I used to like "Don't Phunk My Heart" back then but I think it's trash now lmao. "Broken" by Seether and Amy Lee was played a lot back then though I think that was late 2004, still great song though. "An Honest Mistake" too great great song. I think 2005 had some of the best songs of the '00s but also some of the worst (Laffy Taffy). I miss early 2005 when r&b and rock was still very popular a lot more than late 2005 when snap rap and emo became popular. Funny seeing the Natalie song there, she's so forgotten now, still it wasn't a bad song.

I chose Mr. Brightside, Speed of Sound, and Breathe. I also wanted to choose Hollaback Girl and Beverly Hills, but the poll wouldn't allow it. :(

Oh I originally only made it 3 songs I guess back then, if I still had that account and could change it I would lmao. Still very good choices.

I'm not keen on any of those songs in the poll.
My pick for best song of 2005 is 'Heartbeatz' by Styles and Breeze featuring Karen Danzig, which also doubles as my pick of greatest song of the 2000s

My favorite from the list would have to be from Rob Thomas's 'Lonely No More'.
Overall, I didn't really like 2005 in music that much.

Forget the poll; I’m going to post a list. (Especially since this thread was started before the year 2005 was half over.)
Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield
Let Me Go - 3 Doors Down
Behind These Hazel Eyes - Kelly Clarkson
Cool - Gwen Stefani
Don’t Lie - Black Eyed Peas
..and I think “Black Horse And The Cherry Tree” by KT Tunstall was starting to get radio airplay at the tail end of the year.

On this poll I chose We Belong Together, Hollaback Girl, and Other.
The ones to mention include:
another Mariah Carey song (Say Something)
Feel Good Inc - The Gorillaz
Soul Meets Body - Death Cab for Cutie
Touch - Omarion
Pimpin All Over the World - Ludacris
Slow Down - Bobby Valentino
Sugar We're Going Down - Fall Out Boy
Lose Control - Missy Elliott

In my opinion, Mr. Brightside wins. I never tire of that song. It's fun and incredibly infectious.
Feel Good Inc. is super catchy as well. On the hip hop front, there's no question that a young Kanye hit it out of the park with Gold Digger.
I miss the rich variety in music from those days. You couldn't escape Green Day, Mariah, Gwen, 50 Cent, and Kelly Clarkson.
2005 also introduced us to 3 rising stars who'd come to dominate hip hop for the next few years: Rihanna, T-Pain, and Chris Brown.

Mr. Brightside is good as well. I should add it to my playlist. 2005 was a great year for music in general, one of the B.O.A.T.

From my personal experience it was the exact opposite of that. It was a fun and exciting year for me.

2005 was a pretty good year for music, though 2006 remains my personal favorite year of all time for music.
Here are a few of my favorites from 05:

I'm also surprised that songs like Sugar We're Going Down, Lonely Day, and Feel Good Inc didn't make it onto the poll list given how pretty well known those songs are.

Hi, you must be new here. Please do not put more than two Youtube videos in one post. The reason for the limit is that they don't load on some people's devices when there are so many. This is a courtesy to our fellow board members.
Thank you and welcome aboard!

Have you heard "Cross Me Off Your List" by Hawthorne Heights? It's probably my favorite song of the entire year, although I don't have the experiences that would make me understand the lyrics that much.
