What are your thoughts on MTV, as it stands today?

MTV...
Has killed music, and needs to get off the air.

Blech.. when we had Cable i never watched MTV.. god how i despise it.

We don't actually have MTV in New Zealand, but when we did (around 1998-1999) it actually played music (well, if you consider mindless pop and rap music) MTV didn't last very long though... it later became Juice TV (which actually plays more music videos than Music TV  ;D)

Heck! Even our youth-orientated TV station (which isn't a music channel) plays more music than MTV  ;D

Although I mostly see TV shows on that channel, I still like it. I tend to see music videos in the morning and in Making The Video.

MTV doesn't need to get off the air, but it certainly needs to go back to the format of the early-to-mid 80s.

MTV and Canada's Much Music are....hmmm, how do you say.......styupeed (or Stupid, as they call it in France), but that's besides the point. ::)  For MTV: it's been 24 years, now it's time to pack up those great big bags full of memories of bubble gum, big hair, sex, gangstas, grunge, sh!tty hip hop, and unproductive reality shows...and move one down that trail of what you've left behind since your pre planned conceivance in the late 70s and birth in August of 1981.  It's time for you to go...go away....sleeeeeeep...
As for Much Music:  .....um......yeah...um....just move to the side....you're blocking my conversation with MTV.... ;D

I happen to like Much Music, they actually show videos, MTV on the other hand...  ::)

...has become obsolete and needs to change back to all video format or "music television" will also be obsolete.

My opinion about MTV is the same as with ANY TV channel/program....if you don't like it, don't watch it.


Swap MTV for TV, and ANY TV channel/program for 'Anything'.. and you have my opinion.

I like some of the other music channels we have it on digital cable like VH1 Hits, MTV Hits (some of the time) and VH1 Classic that show videos all of the time.

Not PRSTV (Pointless Reality Show TeleVision)

I could go on.. But won't.

Okay...I don't watch it but still think it sucks! It stands for Music Television and it's anything but that. They should give thier name to VH1 Classic and change thier own name to "Yo....We suck" :P

They should just change the name of VH1 Classic to Classic MTV and do away with MTV. MTV2 covers all the newer stuff anyway.

About MTV2...I absolutely agree ;) As for VH1 Classic...I just  think the name MTV should be re-justified :)

Or renamed. UTBAMTV (Used To Be About Music Television)

i liket mtv some time back but i have gone off it now
becauses they is to many adverts in between the music,

MTV2 used to be called "M2", which was a great network.  :) I was stating that "MTV" should never be used for any station.  :)
