He is an adult now, capable of making his own decisions. I guess they do love each other. If it works out, good for them.

Well, if it makes them happy. They are both legal adults..

....but just to think that he was only like 12 or 13 when she started having sex with him? I just don't understand the logic about that.

I feel astoundingly guilty admitting this, but when this initial case broke in 1997 or so, I sort of envied Villi (I'm only about a year older than him, so I was unintentionally looking at it from his potential side. Plus, I've always been one of those guys who's always crushed on older women - especially my teachers!). :D

Back then I tried to avoid it when people talked about it, since it would just make me angry, but if you'd cornered me and asked my opinion, I would've said something like "Make her do community service" or "Fire her from ever teaching again, but don't send her to jail where cold-blooded murders belong, while the kid gets no more than sent to his room" etc.

However luckily my 23 year old self is a little wiser and can see how it was necesarry for her to go to jail. Whereas my 15 year old self would've just gotten p_ssed off about it since he hated for a boy almost his age to be thought as a "victim" etc.

Flash back ahead to 2005. It's pretty apparent that if he's now as a 20-21 year old guy STILL in love with the same woman from close to a decade ago (whom he hasn't even hardly seen in that long) it's got to be love, however strange it is. He's had the time to get other girlfriends - multiplied by about 20 million and yet he still wants to be with her.

As to whether it'll last, who knows. Maybe she'll dump him when he gets too "old"? I worry about their kids way more than anything else, though. What will THEY think of how they came into the world once they're old enough to understand?

For that kind of reason, I truly do hope it works out between them in the long run.
