I really thought they were much nicer to her than she deserved. I still think Ace was worse, but she just isn't that good and seems to evade trouble based on factors which should not be more important than her comparative lack of talent. I'm not saying she's horrible - she sings far better than I can; however, she's not of the caliber of both some of her current competition and some of the people she's outlasted.

i know i'm a little late here since it's all over but i'm going to post anyway.  i was sooo disappointed with everyone!  i was so excited with the queen theme and i don't think anyone made great song choices.

kellie looked so freaky - it didn't even look like her!  i can't believe the judges would even say it was okay.  no one should have touched that song after constantine rocked it out last year and then had it recorded on the killer queen cd.  bad move that somehow ended up working for her.

katharine could once again do no wrong, which is getting ver old.  to me she sounds like she is pushing out all of her "strong" notes, it doesn't sound natural.  love that song, wish she didn't sing it.

i liked paris and elliott - liked, not loved.

taylor went back to being the old, crazy taylor.  it's what got him his fan base.  it doesn't matter how he sounded - he was dancing his crazy-stule and his fans went, "yay!  the old taylor is back."  it didn't matter that he chose the same song that they laughed at david radford (radcliff?) for singing earlier in the season.  just doing what he did brought his borderline fans right back.

bucky did okay.  why that song??

ace was awful.  why did he choose to sing the rock anthem/cheerleader song?  this was a night made for ace.  there are so many great queen songs he would have done extremely well (like as goog as father figure) with.  i really would have loved to here him sing Doing Alright from their first CD but if he wanted to be more maintstream, you're my best friend would have worked.  i think ace should have been the one to go last night.

chris - again, why that song?  you can't sing innuendo in 1:20 and get the meaning/feeling across.  so many song choices for him, too.  i wanted him to tone it down a bit with father to son or if he wanted to still play the rocker dude - keep yourself alive or tie your mother down would have been better choices.

Hopefully? They probably will, but why do you want her? She is the least consistent person on the show. There are many times she should have gone, and, in this case, she is one of the clear worst. She's one of the few who had obvious difficulty with her song.


IF she does end up staying in, it won't be based on her performance that's for sure.

applause for that one....totally true, I am sure.  IMO,  most of the past idols were not extremely attractive individuals (think Ruben, Fantasia, Clay, etc), so it couldn't have been based on looks back then. ::)  But....that has to be the only reason why she is still around...it certainly isn't for the talent factor.

Well unfortunately (maybe fortunately, in this case) the judges don't really have a say in who goes home each week.  All the judges are good for is letting all the tone-deaf of America know who is actually good and who puts on a good performance.  Sadly, this year Simon won't even give realistic comments to the contestants.

Randy can be like "It was a little pitchy in parts, the notes were high .. it just was not a very good performance", then Paula would be like "First of all, you look fabulous, you are precious .. just an angel.  I thought the song was great, but like randy said ... blah blah".  She will agree with Randy, but in a way that makes her not look like the bad one  ::)

Sometimes she is too over the top for me, but I've gotten used to her feedback where it's still easy to tell when she's not crazy about someone's performance. If she gives more time to dance or outfit or hair or something like that, then it wasn't her favorite. If she throws in somewhere that it was pitchy in spots or whatever, then she really didn't think it was good.

I don't think Simon is too hard on contestants, though. I don't always agree with him, but usually, if he criticizes something, it's with merit.

My main problem with the feedback is that what's being commented on is inconsistent. Somebody can be criticized for a minor thing (e.g., picking a song that doesn't exhibit their range) and have all the good things they did ignored (e.g., singing the easy song really well) whereas others will get more positive feedback even though they sucked (e.g., "that song was a risk and it was just too big for you but you gave it a great effort and you look stunning" as opposed to "it was dreadful").

Elliott sang AWESOME tonight.  I think his cheesy looks and hand movements are what throw people off, but this guy is GOOD!
Paris I think was trying to sound too old, but other than that she's been great.
Taylor, I thought he did pretty good.  I mean, he was doing his best. But I GUESS HIS BEST WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH for the judges  :D  But seriously, I think Taylor has such a soothing voice when he's singing in his higher range. 
Chris did really good 2nite.  Of course, nobody can sing like Bryan Adams, but I'm so glad Chris has stopped rocking.  I think he's a lot better singing slow songs than rocking all the time. 

Kellie.....I seriously hope that she turned off all the Leann Rimes fans out there.  I mean come on, you don't SING unchained melody with a friggin TWANG.  It's just plain disgusting and makes you sing flat.  Paris doesn't sing like Minnie Mouse does she?  Even REAL country singers are able to control their accent, but not the pickle.
Good lord she doesn't even have a personality when she's singing.  That's all offstage (oh yeah, did u guys see how she got on her knees for David Foster?  lol    :o )  But seriously, this time she has GOT TO GO!!!!

I never try calling, it's a waste of time IMO.  I always just text.  I voted for everyone (except pickler) at least twice 2nite.

You know, this is the first time that I remember a mostly REALLY GOOD singers making it to the top.  The other years I've watched, there were only two or three that seemed to have real talent.  And usuallly only one of those made it to the final 2.  This year is way different in that there is much more talent.  Except kellie of course.  There always has to be SOMEONE really bad...

I agree that Kellie stuck out as the bad one. I didn't think Katharine was bad as the judges said, but I didn't think she was great either this week. I thought Chris was good but not sure I was as impressed as the judges. Yaknow, this is the first week I had the TV on but didn't actually see the picture, just listened, and I liked Elliott better than usual. I wonder if maybe his odd performance is sometimes an unintentional influence or if he really did just have an exceptional night.

Katharine:  I thought it was a good performance.  When Simon said "you are not as good as Whitney Houston" I woulda snapped back "Yeah, I know.  But I could not find my base pipe this evening so my performance is a bit off." ;D  
Kellie:  She's been sandbagged.   >:(  First off they did AWFUL makeup and hair this week.  She looked like she had just jumped out of bed.  And the choice of "Unchained melody" (a song that I have always thought sucked anyway) was a poor vocal and octave choice for her.  She's better suited to a higher key and faster pace.
Elliott:  Fine perfomance.  However a bit of music history here. Everybody kept blathering on that it is a "Donnie Hathaway song".   ::) WRONG.  "A Song for You" was written by, and first recorded by, the incomparable, funky,  Leon Russel.  8)  Hopefully they correct the record tonight.
Paris:  Could have been much better.  Last night's song was the worst she's done since she butchered "Midnight Train to Georgia".  Will somebody please explain to her what songs are "happy songs" and which are "soul" ?  She tried to sing this song "to the audience' which was the wrong approach.
Taylor:  I agree with judges that his performance was sub-par.  HOWEVER, I think the song itself was a great match to his voice and persona.  Just wish he had sung it better.  :-\\
Chris:  Surprise performance.   :)  He took a song that is difficult to sing (it is a juvenile song but nonetheless vocally tough) and did a fantastic job.  Glad to see him not do another rock bombast tune.

Jacks- yes Taylor is very likeable- he's my favorite.  I was just saying that he's so different and unique from yor mainstream idols.  Like you know at the auditions they have the pictures of past idols on the wall.  Just imagine Taylor alongside them it seems kinda odd.

Kellie fans-  save some pictures, download some videos.  Yeah she's hott and funny and *fun* to watch (at least for the guys)  But with her singing, I seriously don't see her being too successful with a record deal.  Maybe she'll perform at 4-H functions across the nation  lol!!! 

But Taylor Hicks is so likeable.

I thought that Katharine was a bit shaky on her first song...but she rocked on her second one.  Chris sounded great singing "Renegade"....but his 2nd song was so typical and too much screaming.  Taylor had me laughing on his first (with his suave dance moves), and his second was really good.  Paris was...eh, so/so...and Elliott was boring (he just bores me as a singer for some reason).  I think it will be down to Paris and Taylor.

Katharine I thought was pretty good especially on the 2nd song; Taylor's 1st song was fun but didn't show the vocals, the 2nd song was pretty good; Paris didn't do it for me tonight, I didn't like either performance really (she ain't no Mary J. Blige that's for sure); Chris's first song was great, the 2nd was so so; Elliot was so so and didn't stand out much.

I don't understand why Elliott is so unpopular.  He has such a beautiful voice and is so nice to listen to, but I guess it's just his looks turn everyone off.

Who woulda thought that Mandisa would not be in the Final Four?  I suspect that her fall can be traced to singing a Gospel/worship song.  Probably turned off alot of her voters.

I have to say that Paris matured alot over the weeks, as she got rid of the "cutesy cutesy" act.  I think that she has a great future ahead of her.  :)

Katherine looked genuinely surprised that she was not voted off.  I just noticed yesterday that she is a fairly BIG girl, I mean big boned, broad shoulders.  I wonder if she played on the girls football team in high school.

At this point I have no predictions as to the ultimate winner.  Anybody could take it.  Although I think Taylor is probably the weakest link, good as he is.

That's true, I guess he does pick a lot of bad songs.  But last week when he did "A song for you" it was awesome.  I think that's what he sang on his audition and in Hollywood. 
Katharine also is really good, when she picks the right songs.  (remember the christina aguilera song?  *shudder*)  Although I think everyone in the top 5 deserves a record deal, each a completely different style, for some reason I don't want Katharine to win.  I guess it's just I think it's time for a guy to win the competition.  But if the guys keep picking boring songs/ straining their voice/ acting too drunk, Kat might win after all. 

Actually it will probably boil down to the song they MAKE the finalists sing, you know the one that the winner gets to make their first single of that song.  That's how it works.  Season 3, yeah of course Fantasia's gospel rendition of "I Believe" would attract more people than Diana's sweet style.  And then Season 4, well who really wanted to hear Bo Bice singing "Inside Your Heaven" ?  That TOTALLY screwed Bo over last year, IMO

I dunno...I am getting really really bored with Chris and Elliott...they sound the same with every song that they sing....and both of their voices are very wobbly and annoying....Katharine might have had not the greatest night...but I still think she can outsing all of them....and Taylor...I thought did very well on both songs.

Elliot My boy!!! Wasn't he awesome last night? Taylor was good too. But i think Katherine should have gone home. Bad luck for Chris, now he can put a boxer briefs on his head and travel back home. That was very stupid to say. He's obviously a good singer but his voice is kinda shaky. I think the competition is very exciting now as the best three singers are still there even though Katherine is not doing her best right now. I don't see how anyone gets from this week's results that Katharine is the most popular.  Hello?  How many times has she been in the bottom 2?  
AND....from the results each week and watching the AI audience, Taylor is the one who appears to be the most popular.  I was thinking that Chris could have made it to the finals (although his shaky voice was starting to irritate me).  But I think his arrogant "boxer briefs" comment is what lost him a lot of fans.  
Now, we gotta think how Chris's ex-fans will vote now.  That, i don't know.  Some probably hate Katharine now for beating him.  Or some might have Katharine as a 2nd favorite, we'll just see.

yeah at this point i'll be happy with whoever wins.  and that's another thing that bothered me about chris besides his arrogance was the fact that he does sound like any old generic rocker out there.  but if i had to pick a favorite, it would be Catherine.  she has a beautiful voice and a great stage presence.  I really like Elliot's voice and he's cute in a way i can't explain... And Taylor.. well I was really irritated by him in the beginning but he's kinda grown on me.  he has a great voice too  and he's a fun performer but I just don't seem him as the next American Idol.  WHo knows... but the end is near!!  I'm gonna miss this season, it's been a really good one.
