You got that right.  Thin Lizzy, fronted by awesome guitar virtuoso Phil Lynotte, was as cool as they come.

The Corrs are also a good group, especially Andrea Corr.  I'd party with that girl.  :P

A lot of people know this already, but I might as well post it for those who don't. Clannad is a family group and Enya is their sister, who was with the group for a short time before she went solo. The family has Irish (Gaeilge) as their first language. Enya says she thinks and counts in Irish, and I say that's pretty cool.

I LOVE Enya. Her music is so great..worldbeat is awesome(I guess thats what she would be considered to be genre-wise). I hope to become fluent in Welsh one day and teach it to my children. I'm also going to learn Gaelic. Man, I am more and more starting to feel Celtic pride. ;D

Because if you think about it, even though I'm not part Irish, Gaelic is an acestral language for me because I'm part Scotish. Aren't Irish and Scots Gaelic both the same language, but just different dialects?

Have you got their greatest hits album and if so, is the song "Because Of You" on it? I think, if I remember rightly, that was the theme to the TV series "Brush Strokes" that had that bloke that does "Flash" adverts.

As far as nations go...no

...but I'm certain that there's some shared Celtic common ground between the two...

If it is any help.

Celtic languages have two main divisions: Gaelic (aka Goidelic), and Brythonic (aka British). Gaelic includes the tongues of Irish Gaelic (Ireland), Scottish Gaelic (Scotland), and Manx (the Isle of Man - extinct). Brythonic includes Breton (Brittany, France), Welsh (Wales), Cornish (Cornwall, England – extinct), and possibly Pictish (Scotland – extinct). Also included in the Celtic branch is Gaulish, spoken in ancient Gaul (France).

Gaelic is a branch of the Celtic family of languages., it can be divided into Scottish Gaelic (spoken in Scotland), Irish Gaelic (spoken in Ireland) and Manx (formerly spoken on the Isle of Man).

I saw them in '78 it was a great show.  I believe there was a migration of Irish people who settled in Scotland which made up the Scots.  Would that not make AWB Irish in a sense ::) Perhaps Scotch/Irish?

Didn't know that. According to the "Guiness Book Of British Hit" Singles, he's classed as being an Irish Male Vocalist.
