Subject: What Names Do You Like?

Written By: Guest on 02/19/05 at 6:29 pm

I was just thinking about that when I typed my reply to the "Best Thing About This Decade Thread".  I kinda go for Carly, and Amanda for girls, and boys I'm not sure.  :)  Mia's pretty too.  ;) :)

I'd also looked of their meanings and Carly means "little and womenly" and Amanda means "with romance."  Also, the musical term Amandina means the same thing as Amanda.

Which name do you like?

And please give 'em their meaning if you know, gansta'.

;D

Ever since 92 or 93 a lot of parents have given their kids weird-a*s names.  All the Dannys, Joshes, Ashleys, and Jessicas are in middle school and high school now.  Soon the high schools will be overrun with Emmas, McKenzies, and Jacobs.  Ahh!  :o

The English had this kind of problem with names like Hillary and Kimberly.  Yes, these were unisex names.
You know, it was like the baby-name popularity of "Madison," as girl's given name.  It started out as a JOKE in the movie "Splash."  That's right, the insipid mermaid one with Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks.  Then all these people started naming their daughters "Madison" and a couple of porno stars took on the single pseudonym themselves!
What's up with that name, anyway, "Daryl"?

My son was born in 91 and I named him Jacob after my dad.  There weren't any Jakes then, but then
"Melrose Place" decides to have  cool guy named Jake and there is an explosion of Jakes. Ughhhhh!
On top of all that, the nickname for firefighters is "Jakes"  something I never knew, so after 9/11
alot of boys are nicknamed Jake because of that.  If I knew then, well,  I guess I'd go further back in
the family.  Thomas, Joseph, Ames,  Sylvesterno, I don't think so

It is hard for me to come up with names I like.  For a boy I like Jared...my daughter is Sarah.  I do like the name Victoria, though.  My friend named her daughter Victoria and they call her Tori.  She is adorable.
