If you had your own cable network, what would it be called and what would be shown for TV shows on the weekdays?

the space channel (or sci-fi channel in the states) in canada provides most of my TV needs but it doesn't go too far to cater to the hardcore geek. i want to see more anime and more classic sc-fi shows like those shown in the 60s and 70s. i want to see shows on gaming and not just video gaming. i want to see music videos by bands that don't suck and only geeks care about like music styles of metal, goth, punk and what not. the station would be called GeekTV.

I'd call mine Transponder and it would show Sliders, Wings, Ned and Stacey, Sonic the Hedgehog and the rest of the DiC Animation library.

MaxTV--

This network would be the MTV of avant-garde jazz, chamber, electronic, electroacoustic, ambient, and ethnic musics.  It would be 24-hours commerical-free and show live gigs, art installations, archival footage, interviews, documentaries.  I would even get these fine musicians and composers on the cutting edge of music to make videos expressly for MaxTV.

Public domain classic cartoons, classic MTV shows (all reality shows sold to the Reality Network) like "Unplugged", "Remote Control", "Just Say Julie", vintage "Top 20 Countdown", Sifl & Olly, vintage VMAs, , MTV cartoons, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, vintage music video specials, Mystery Science Theatre, tv shows that are rarely seen, a revamped "What's My 20?" weekly video countdown, new videos, "V.I.P.", etc.  :D  8)

The Special Olympics, I think it needs more mainstream exposure, I won't be happy until these kids are getting the same salaries as other big time sports and the next time there is a sports strike we will have a talent pool as replacements, we could be watching NHL hockey this season with my plan.

Paint Dry Network... I wonder if it'll be as popular like the upcoming "Reality Network"  ::)  :P

Way back in the 70's when cable TV was getting big, me and a buddy always said that we were going to start a pornography channel.

Called Pornet, it was going to feature 24 hours a day of choice porn and porn-related game shows.

However, we never realized the dream.   ;)

I don't know what I'd name it but it would be all 80's all the time, nothing but 80's videos, tv shows and commercials.

My network would have something for everybody: kid shows in the morning, game shows in the early afternoon, positive talk shows in the late afternoon,  news updates every three hours (but no news show), entertainment shows from 6-8, sitcoms from 8-10PM, dramas 10-12, a sports score crawler, and adult shows and/or movies after midnight. Weekend would be the sports that matter (baseball, football, basketball, gold, etc.), classic movies, and religious shows on Sunday morning. Sunday nights programming is chosen by an audience phone poll  during the week.

A network devoted to animation (cartoons) from the '80's to the dawn of the 2000's that are hardly shown anymore

My network woul dbe devoted to the viewers. It would be called YOU TV.
You call a toll free number and request what show you want to see. Every hour the votes are tallied and the highest scoring show is the one that would be shown. For half hour sitcoms - it would be the top two.
Wasnt or isnt there a video channel thats supposed to be like this???

You know, I don't know why actual networks (not cable channels) have summer reruns? I remember seeing a behind the scenes programing showing how every season lots of show wannabees get to the point of taping Pilots only to be not accepted. When a show goes "on vacation", why not rotate another new show?

Mine would be called "TV Rock "  All you would have to do is type in the name of the tv show or movie or music video you wanted to see.

If golf has it's own network.... why not bowling?  ;D

I'd do a station devoted to all 80's Music Videos that also throws in a good chunk of Canadian Content.  We have one already called "Much More Retro", but they now play 90's videos too.  I want one all 80's, 24/7

Mine would be the most selfish, angry network ever.. it would have no viewer consideration, it would just keep playing music videos and insulting it's viewers intelligence. Then Scrubs would come on.

Besides the more "traditional" shopping channels, Direct TV also has several channels just hawking a table of scattered jewellery. Not to be outdone but Dish Network has several channels showing nothing but informercials.
