I'm suprised that there isn't a widely active Closing Logos thread here that goes on for 98 pages, considering how popular the subject is on retro sites.
I'll fire it off because I know someone will start going on forever about the Viacom Purple V of Doom (I like the sliver flying V with the sliding synth myself) or the Screen Gems thingamabob.
I'm in love with the DiC Animation logos for some twisted reason... I even have the logo themes on my Nomad MP3 Jukebox.

My favorite ending logo would have to be the one that they show at the end of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel.

I'm sure you're talking about a UK network, but I don't know what you're talking about.
There was a whole trend of metallic logos during the 1980s and early 1990s. It had to do with a computer program called Paintbox that did some neato effects in shiny 3D.

What was the one that had a greasy hand banging a mallet on a steel wall making a loud "DING" sound. I remember it at the end of Adam-12.
The Rankin Bass logo at the end of the CHristmas specials.

That was for Mark VII Productions (Jack Webb's company).
The Rankin Bass logo at the end of the CHristmas specials.
I liked that one too, but you could only see it once a year!

It's funny, but the old NBC "snake" logo used to scare me a little bit when I was 4 or 5 years old. :o

There was actually a lawsuit involved with that logo--apparently it was copied from Nebraska Public Television and I think NPTV won. However, NBC got to keep the logo and NPTV wound up changing theirs.

One of my favorite network logos has to be the original HBO logo sequence from the 1980s with the bombastic disco anthem.
They still have strains of the music in the "feature" logo sequence, but it's not the same.

I like the old Geffen ball with the black background (no pun intended, since David Geffen is openly gay). The new logo, which is the block letters DEG leaning against each other, looks ordinary. The old United Artists/Transamerica logo was also cool.

I read in an interview with Cannell that he cannot really type due to dyslexia...
I had trouble learning how to print and write as a child,therefore I was taught basic use of a typewriter....I still feel more comfortable with a keyboard than a pen although I can write..it tends to be sloppy.
