no, ontario doesn't. it had to do with the massive lake agassiz that was over manitoba during the last ice age. the whole province became riddled with lakes and ponds when the glaciers retreated and lake agassiz drained.

J'ai choisi Québec, parce que j'aime la langue française. Not to mention it's my dad's province, he's from Montréal. I just wish the francophones would screw their heads on straight and realise that independence means ruin.

Ontario, since it's the only province I've really traveled extensively in, and I thought it was really neat up there. I did go to Manitoba when I was 15, and while the terrain wasn't much different from North Dakota, this was the first time I had been outside the U.S, and I was so absolutely fascinated with the idea of being in a foreign country that I wandered off for about 4 or 5 hours and walked around town (Brandon, MB) checking out all of the things that were subtly different. I would also like to see the Canadian Rockies someday.

Of course, Sputnik voted for Manitoba, and he's one of the few Manitobans NOT huddled in the Southeastern corner around greater Winnepeg!  100,000 lakes, say thanks to the glaciers!

Saint Mary's is awesome and Halifax is a great city..really friendly people,a good vibe with a pretty decent music scene..i was originally planning to major in English and minor in French but i switched to the Criminology program..that was short-lived,however,as my mother remarried and moved away;i withdrew to work full-time.

Hey! I vote for Saskatchewan, too! We have more than 100,000 lakes; a big honking forest that rivals Germany in size and 2005 is our Centennial Year so we have all kinds of fun, activity and parties going on. Yay, Saskatchewan!

The only province I've been to outside of my own(Ontario) is Nova Scotia, and I was only 5,so I have very few memories of it.But I would have to agree with Gord,I think if I was ever to go out to visit BC I might not come back.Just something about the Canadian rockies that grabs me i guess.

I grew up in that part of the world, it's amazing how many rocks, trees, lakes and Mosquitos there are in Ontario isn't it!
I've been to 9 of the ten provinces(missed NF and L) but since I live here now I have to say PEI is the place.
Where else can you still get pop in glass bottles, cheap sea food and all the potates you can eat.

That's the way of the continental climate from Flin Flon to Tulsa! Where did you live in Saskatchewan? Regina? Saskatoon? I've never been there myself. I have fantasy of someday driving Newfoundland to Alaska.

How would you describe the culture of Saskatchewan? Certain American conservatives are laying claim to western Canada as the "good" part of Canada for its "cowboy" culture and more "conservative" values. This is in contrast to "bad" Canada--Quebec and Ontario--for its more European and urbane culture. I'm not sure where the Maritimes stand, American conservatives probably hate them because they're poor. The Vancouver area, of course, does not count as part of good western Canada. I don't want to wax political on the non-political board, but I'm too curious not ask the Canadians about the American Right's dividing of Canada into favorable and disfavorable areas.

British Columbia.
Vancouver is a nice, big liberal city. It is adjacent to Washington state, so the climate is a temperate maritime one. Rains a lot, but Brits are used to that.

Saskatchewan was the birthplace of the Social Democratic movement in Canada, orignoriginallyCCF now ht NPD they grew out of the depression and a movement for change with power to the 'working man' away from the corporate centralist (Ontario/Quebec) of the time.
The leader Tommy Douglas (Keifer Sutherland's grandfather) was recently voted the greatest Canadian based upon his beliefs and work to get universal medicare, universal old age pensions and many other ideas out there and adopted.
Over the years the movement has changed and that populism has turned right but Sask. still has a NDP government. Alberta next door is more right wing and more American in it's out look but it helps to have so much oil wealth that it can 'go it alone' in alot of ways. It's a more every man for himself province.
It's kind of hard to categorize each province but we do tend to lean a bit more to the centre/left than the US.

If that's true, it sounds like a place worth living. I wish I could still get cheap soda in glass bottles and cheap seafood.

It might rain more often than the average North American city, but whenever I went out there, most of the days were sunny. Then again that was in the summer....

New Brunswick is second because I associate the name "Brunswick" with bowling equipment.
