Wow. I couldn't have put that into better words if I tried.

I love this article! Couldn't get any better.
MTV is pure crap, but then again, you have to understand that it's appealing to the new generations that like crap! I'm glad to have been young enough to enjoy MTV in its heyday!

And I don't understand why MTV always shove Madonna & Michael Jackson down into their channel though their material (since 1991) are pure garbage.
Atleast I've seen "End Of The World" (The Cure) & "Vertigo" (U2) on MTV2.
And Duran Duran "(Reach Up For The) Sunrise" on VH1.
Though I had to "grow up" during the downgfall of MTV in the late '90's...
Though they still aired "MTV500" and other specials... until 1998.
Heck, in the '80's to mid 1990's Aerosmith, Tina Turner, Elton John, Rolling Stones, and a couple artists that were around before the '80's got exposure on MTV.

I agree 111%!
MTV rendered itself useless by the early '90s,unfortunately by then they were an unstoppable garbage juggernaut.
If MTV plays less music than ever, that's because pop music is less about music than ever. Pop is now entirely bling-bling. They show any music anybody over 30 could be interested in...even remotely
The booty-shakin' videos of the hip-hop gang-bangers make those risque Metal videos with slinky bikini models look tame by comparison!
I will always hold dear the memories of seeing videos by Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, AFOS, The Fixx, Men At Work, Men Without Hats, and a thousand others on MTV in my teens

There are a few of us here who were lucky enough to have been
around before the MTV age. I didn't take to it when it first
came out, but it was obviously the way the music industry was going, less about the music, more about the manufactured hype. As far as I'm concerned "video killed the radio star".
