If you haven't read or heard about it, the MNF promo at the beginning shows Desperate Housewives' Nicollete Sheridan in nothing but a towel invading the Eagles' locker room with nobody in it but Terrell Owens. After pleading with T.O. not to play the game with Dallas and to do naughty business with her, Sheridan takes off her towel, exposed what God blessed her with. And T.O. says, "Looks like the boys will have to win it without me.", then hugs Nicollete.

I saw that! I was wondering how long it would take for a big response to it. I was thinking as a i watched it of how some big bellied rednecks sipping their beers all psyched up for the game in front of the tube were responding to a white woman coming on to black man!( Laughter) I bet many forced themselves to turn the channel, and many had to wrestle with their prejudices and their love of football- I think deep down football won out though. If you wanna know a secret deep down those rednecks actaully felt the interracial thing was a turn on but they won't admit it- in case Bubba is watching the game with him. Very interesting huh?

This Black on white is a hotbed topic and a secret fantasy of most white females (and white males if they'd be honest) in America, this promo was designed to put sex in front of the macho guys watching the game and to promote the new show Desperate Housewives for those who are unaware of it. The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders have been doing this for years, only a little less overtly. It was inappropiate and not well thought out But it does raise the question of where honestly we stand in matters of interracial sex and is football watched by porn watchers? Hey Indy, Well how closely we agree yet disagree. That so called age old myth is still alive in the south and it's not a myth it is truth for I live here and most of my black friends who will be open about it tell me they do want to sleep with white women for the adventure and the fact that it's suppose to be taboo. While a man of color may prefer a mate of same skin color he has great interest in seeing what it's like just over the line and vice versa from the white perspective as most of my white female friends have admitted they'd like to experience sex with a black man for the curiousity and excitement of it. Anything considered taboo makes it more appealing. The Football incident simply brought to surface what the majority of Americans fantasize about.. and that is- a black man and white woman breaking the taboo and we secretly love it - that's why we're all tore up about it.
I do agree we should never do things for spite -it ends in disaster but there is also a danger of suppressing a secret desire when it's there whether we deny it or not. Honesty will set you free like the truth. Ain't it cool to debate...

From where you live, it might be the truth. I like to think of it as a mere coincidence. Dungy likes to think, being the conservative he is, that men prefer women of the same race. That's not necessarily true in today's world.

I agree R and R, Mtv and Vh1 is soft porn. Networks should re-think about who they will be putting their latest "brainstorm" ideas in front of. Yes, a majority of Mon. night Football veiwers are males who love to see pretty women and sexual situations, BUT how many young kids tune in and were influenced negatively by it (example- Terrell Owens suggestion was "the team will have to play without me while i take care of this white woman')? How many housewives were offended? Sex and sports are inseperable or there'd be no need for the scantily dressed cheerleaders. (remember Debbie Does Dallas anyone?) We just have to decide who the audience will be. This promo would have played at a bar with cheers and yahoos but in America's living room? When they are honest with themselves. We just need to make sure that a person is to the age of accountabilty in their minds before bombarding them with visauls of sex and nudity and porn. Once a person gets to his mature age then it's all about personal choices. As for interracial acceptance, it's more accepted now than ever -it's just a lot of folk have "closet" hang-ups about it and refuse to confront their own selves to see why they feel this way. Example- I knew a white guy who told me (while he was drunk of course) that his biggest fantasy was to see his wife making it with a black man and YET he said if he ever caught her doing such a thing he'd kill them both. The thoughts of it turned him on while the reality of it made him angry- Psycho analyze that! 

The only thing that offends me about that skit is the fact that they used Nicolette Sheridan. She's one ugly bag....in my opinion anyways. :P

in order to dispel any uncomfortable ethnic feelings I am willing to be the female lead who will

I must add that the Red States of America may protest anti-family attitudes at the polls, but they sure like to watch them on the tube.  "Desperate Housewives" is rising to the top in places like Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Idaho!

I don't like the iea of the state telling TV land how to run the show, but I sure wish garbage celebrating promiscuity and infidelity didn't sell so well.  I have always repudiated the ideas from the "sexual revolution" that sex with many partners and so-called open marriages are liberating.  The destructiveness of such ventures was overwhelming in evidence by the late 1970s.

I also think families ought to be able to watch sports together without the parents having to worry about raunchy conduct (Sheridan, Janet Jackson) and violence erupting (Pacers)  At least the NBA is coming down on those brawlers like a ton of bricks.

Tanya, Tanya come on now. Do women really stick together that good? Oh no, i've been gendered! I am a dark skinned native American that society labels caucassion and I'm not prejudice at all. Just as man in pursuit of truth in every area of life. This topic was one I've been involved with a lot in my circles and I thought I could get an honest answer here- I guess not. I love to analyze people and why they do what they do and especially when there is such a double meaning to what they are saying. Tanya since you are considered black I suppose then what you said about white men/ black girls to be true- however IF you were white you'd hear more of the reverse. This fantasy thing is a touchy subject and I understand how not many will not dare to be truthful with their own selves. I believe the fantasy is true and that some carry it on both sides. As said before, in my experiences, I've met white men who wanted to act on their fantasy and I've met black men who didn't have this fantasy. But, I'm sure others have this fantasy. If you must know, I've already been there, so it's no big deal with me. You haven't been gendered at all. I was just supporting my previous posts.

If you read USA Today this morning, the writer of the article hinted that Nicolette's character in Desperate Housewives would be killed off, since she is not a series regular like say Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, or Marcia Cross. That would hurt the ratings, since in Soapland, the villian(ess) is the most liked person on the show. :(
