Subject: "We Are The World" remake on the works!!!

Written By: woops on 10/09/04 at 2:18 am

Today I heard on the radio that producer Jermaine Dupri will get current artists to remake "We Are The World".  :P

Thankfully it's not the better classic "Do They Know It's Christmas" classic.  8)

I hope Britney Spears, Marilyn Manson, Korn, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Slipknot, Ja Rule, Jennifer Lopez, Eminem, Fifty Cent, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, Avril Lavinge, Lil' Romeo, Alicia Keys, Sean Paul, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, and many others DON'T appear on the remake.  :P  ::)

And why remake "We Are The World"? Why not a new song?

I hear it's gonna be a Michael Jackson solo with revised lyrics:
Molest The World, Molest The Children ::)....but as he said recently on Southpark...."That's Ignorant"

The song "We Are the World" is a disgustingly brainless, saccharine and self-congratulatory attempt at depth.  I hate this song.  Let it die in its own decade.

The song was based on USA For Africa and helping the hungry children in Ethiopia. What are the rap stars helping? ???

You know what it seems to me, Kenny? It seems like they saw the Live-Aid concert the year before, wished they took part in it and then decided to do their bit at short notice.  ;D

Do you understand that the song was written and recorded in response to the way the world was,and especially the famine in Africa was,and was meant to get people motivated to work on changing the situation? And that the proceeds from the record sales went to help those less fortunate...sorry,just had to say how I feel.

We'll just have to wait and hear how it sounds before we jump to conclusions. ;)

Unfortunately, the music video will be nothing like the original, which was filmed during the recording (I think).
:P

Knowing the fact that all teen pop & hip hop videos look the same...I don't want to know...  :P  ::)

BTW, does anybody know who'll be on the remake? Just curious.

Though I know it'll be mostly over s xed pop singers, rappers, and other nobodies like Justin Timberlame. And maybe be a pop punk loser like Avril Lavinge  thrown in.
:P

This isn't news to me.  I know all this.  Fed a lot of people.  That's great.  The song is still horrible.

Heh heh. The cast just went the wrong way about it and used sentimentality rather than showing the problem as a stark reality.

I agree with Kenny. A crap song is still a crap song regardless of where the profits go to.

Howard, as for music being an ongoing process - an original song seems to be a rarity these days and this song is proof. It was bad enough the first time around.

They're gonna have to have some people to sing the high notes and the low notes. That will be difficult to find. :o

This is just wrong, wrong, wrong. As some of you had pointed out, the orginal went to feed people in Africa. Are they going to use the proceeds for some cause like that or to line their own wallets? If it going for a cause, ok, I can handle that but otherwise, like I said, it is just WRONG!!!!

My daughter really enjoys all the songs by Hillary Duff. The songs are light and easy to remember.  The latest my Lips are sealed with her sister really rocks.   Her favorite song is the very romanic Let the Rain Fall Down.  If you dont like Hillary, sorry but you are very wrooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, it's been remade too. (There's a thread about it on the '80's forum)  :P

Best If I don't say anything or it'll start another idea...

How about a remake of "Hot Hot Hot" from Buster Poindexter instead...  ::)

I'm sorry. but 'Our Lips Are Sealed' was sung totally out of tune with the Go-Gos version!!! It was horrible!
Let The Rain Fall Down is a really boring song and Hillary's voice sounds so FORCED when she sings. Her singing voice is very flat.
She should just stick to acting.

From what I hear it is going to be a rap/hip-hop version.  Here is a sample of the new lyrics:

Pimp out world, pimp out the chillen
We be the ones who be sportin dubs
Ho you best start givin'
There'll be booty shaking
Homies whipping out their knives
We'll be out shooting .40's
Shake your booty
