My dizziness is atributable to 1 of the foloowing three things:
1. Meniers disease

2. Cabyriathitis

3. Eustacian tube dysfuntion....

She is referring me to an E.N.T. specialist, so at least I have some medicines and am on the road to solving this stupid dizziness :)

In her case she eventually had to have the "balance organ" in one of her ears removed.  That ear had always been a problem anyway as she could not hear very well out of it.  Once she got the surgery no problem.

A friend of my girlfriend's family has meniers disease and she said it can be quite debilitating. At least you know now and it can be treated. Like Paul, I never knew until yesterday that you were ill, so from all of us on the board . . .

Now THAT'S a good question.  I do not know about how it affected her hearing, since shortly after the surgery she stopped talking to me completely.  :-X :-\\

I had some dizzy spells on Monday evening (thankfully all gone now) and was looking up on the subject.  Meniere's disease sounded a likely candidate for your symptoms (such as I know about them).

In my physiology book at work it says that surgery is the last resort and they use antimotion drugs (travel sickness pills I guess?) and possibly salt restriction to reduce the fluid in the ear.

Anyway hope the ENT specialist can give a clear diagnoses when you finally get an appointment.

Yep....You are lucky that you don't have the dizziness....it really sucks :P

I get ringing in my ears but it's mostly from the loud music I listen to with headphones every day. :P

Hope they figure out exactly what the problem is and you can get well.  I had an inner ear problem a few years ago and it sucked.  Luckily, it cleared up with some drops and meds.

I need to see my family doctor and continue to monitor my sugars because my foot doctor has promised to remove my toe if it becomes further infected and I don't take care of my health. And I get that ringing sometimes whenever I put on headphones. But my hearing goes far beyond loud music.  ;)

My Mum is diabetic and has some foot problems too but she still does not understand what the deal is.

Yesterday she said "well it must be better because I do not feel any pain down there".  I then explained to her for the 10,000th time that in her condition "no pain" does not necessarily mean "no trouble".  So I looked at her foot and it looks OK.

Well I saw my doctor today about the ringing in the ears.

Instead of working that, he took my blood pressure and nearly cr*pped his pants.  So now I gotta go on BP medicine.  My BP was 170/80.  :o  "Normally" it has been 110/60.

Although he said ear-ringing can be a symptom of high BP anyway.  :-\\

Oh well.  I was the last person left in my family who was not on BP medicine.

Well I saw my doctor today about the ringing in the ears.

I'm sorry to hear of the problem, LyricBoy....but at least you know WAHT is wrong and the medicine can help correct the problem. I go to a specialist soon...I JUST got a referral today ::)

VIAGRA!  Apparently it is helping meniere's sufferers.  I'd love to know who worked that one out!!  Hope you're feeling okay.  Try to stay stress-free - my friend says this has a huge bearing on the occurrence of her Menieres.

:D Crazy doctors! Well LyricBoy, I will probably just get a referral to a cardiologist and then probably won't be able to get to one until next month! I'm now having to rethink playing basketball with my boys on Thursday night...we are meeting with all my friends from the outdoor Saturday group in my boys old middle school gym from 7-10:30pm. So today I went back to my regular doctor. She referred me to not only a cardiologist, but also a stomach specialist to see if it's my gallbladder acting up or my stomach....onward I go towards better health...I hope :D

ah a fellow Tinitus sufferer. Im glad everything seems ok. Hopefully nothing is wrong  in the stoumach etc.

What is your tinitus like.. once every 2-3 days i get an incredibly sharp piercing sound in my ear for maybe 20 seconds then it goes.. not bad really compared to many people. Also because it has been found the doctor says he can probably sort it out meaning that it will never get worse.. or something.. which is nice.
