;D ;DIt would really depend on how i died.:Ebony Eyes'by the Everly brothers would be good if it were in a plane."Teen Angel' by Mark Dinning would work for a train."Last Kiss" by Wayne Cochran would work for a car accident.I don't forsee comitting suicide,so "The Pickup'by Mark Dinning and "Moody River' by Pat Boone wouldn't work.If it's natural causes, the song doesn't necessarily have to deal with death,so possibly "LOve of My Life" by the Everlys.Cheers!

Hmmm...interesting question. Let's see...

"Asleep" - The Smiths
"Unloveable" - The Smiths
"At My Funeral" - The Crash Test Dummies
"I Remember (Death In The Afternoon)" - Ultravox
"Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" - Ultravox (highly commercial, but still appropriate)
"Das Lied Vom Einsamen Mädchen" - Martin L. Gore
"The Garden" - John Foxx
"Blasphemous Rumours" - Depeche Mode
"I Know It's Over" - The Smiths
"Dream Come True" - Frozen Ghost (something for my husband to remember me by)
"Black Celebration" - Depeche Mode

...Any of those will do, as long as it's not just one of them! Actually...I'd like ALL of them played! :)

Excellent choice! I'd go with "Gloomy Sunday". I don't know if anyone would know this one, but I love it! I'd follow it with "Prayer for the Dying" by Seal. I'd want to be buried in all black, with my Tarot deck in my right hand, with the 10 of Cups revealed to anyone looking in from above. This card, representing a good future, would provide some consolances to mourners {assuming I had any}

Nah...I'm more of a musician (non-professional singer/keyboardist) and artist. I'll leave the songwriting up to geniuses like Morrissey, Martin Gore, and John Foxx. :) And I never thought I had a good enough sense of humour to write a parody. I could always try, I suppose...:)

I would have a New Orleans-style jazz funeral--where a Dixieland band marches in procession alongside the casket. We would proceed through the streets of San Diego, through the gates of Sea World, and up to the bleachers surrounding the shark tank. Once everyone was seated in the bleachers, my casket would be ceremoniously raised up to the edge of the tank, the door would open, and my body would be dumped into the tank and devoured by the sharks. Now THAT'S a way to put the FUN back into FUNeral!!!

I actually made up a cd and it is on file with my funeral card and insurance details, mum has a copy too.  Its all detailed as to what order the songs are played in and at what stage of the service etc.  Some are just for in the background when people are arriving and leaving, others are pertinant to the service itself.  One is to be played as the ashes are scattered.

The songs on the cd are:

Over The Rainbow / Wonderful World (hawaiin mix) - Isreal Kamakawio'ale (I may have missed a vowel or two there and you may remember it being played in Mark Greens last ER ep).

50 Years - Uncanny Xmen

I hope You Dance - Leane Womak

Always Something There To Remind Me - Naked Eyes version

Candle In The Wind - Olivia Newton John version

Total Eclipse Of The Heart - Bonnie Tyler

Heaven Can Wait - Meat Loaf

I'm Just a Girl - Bachelor Girl

Superman - Five for Fighting

The Day You Went Away (english and french versions) - Wendy Mathews.

Then a lot of dance music so I can funky chicken my way in to heaven (I'm hoping)

Every Breath You Take -- The Police
Highway to Hell -- AC DC
(If I die at a very old age) Only the Good Die Young -- Billy Joel
...and I want them to play Tom Petty's "Last Dance with Mary Jane" while showing the video on a screen over my coffin.

Just kidding.

Here's the real list:

Time by The Alan Parson's Project,
Three Bells (artist is on the tip of my tongue, but my mind is blanking - grr,)
Imagine by John Lennon,
Spirit in the Sky - either Norman Greenbaum's or The Kentucky Headhunters' version
Streets of Laredo (Cowboy's Lament) -- Webb Wilder's version
Lightning Crash -- Live
I'll Fly Away -- The version from the O Brother soundtrack will do nicely.

This is interesting ! I just read an article in a magazine about this, let me find it .........
Right the top ten songs played at funerals are :

1.The Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler.

2.MY Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion.

3.I Will ALways Love You - Whitney Houston.

4.Simply The Best - Tina Turner.

5.Angels - Robbie Williams.

6.You'll Never Walk Alone - Gerry and the Pacemakers.

7.Candle In The Wind - Elton John.

8.Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers.

9.Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel.

10.Time To Say Goodbye - Sarah Brightman.

Though there were requests for 'Another one bites the dust','Wake me up before you gogo','Burn baby burn','Relight my fire' and 'Smoke gets in your eyes' !!

My choice for me is 'Who's gonna ride your wild horses' by U2.

Yeah!! If I had enough friends who could pool together enough money to have Depeche Mode and a reunited Ultravox and Smiths to play at my funeral, that would be fantastic! ^ Heh! Sounds feasible...!

Here's a legendary moment from the days of steam-powered radio...

When Bing Crosby died in 1977, a British radio station tacked it onto the end of a news bulletin as a piece of breaking news. So breaking, in fact, that the DJ following was not prepared in any way for it, so he launched straight into his cued record...

...which was (surprise surprise!) Bing Crosby singing...

'Cheek To Cheek', which starts off...'Heaven...I'm in heaven...
