IMO, it celebrates & ridicules the '80's. 8)
It mentions Blondie, Duran Duran, Madonna, Pretty In Pink, Breakfast Club, and many pop culture references from the '80's. Though it also stated that it's "uncool" now. But the song is fun & catchy.
BTW, it's the same band with the hit "All The Bad Boys Girls Want".

Sounds like an 2000's version of "Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me)" by Reunion with 80s bands, only louder.

I don't think it sounds too much like their last song any more than ANY band's songs sound alike. Most good bands have a distinct "style" that they're known for.
There are some artists that have variety in their music. These artists, such as Robbie Williams or Everclear, are often underappreciated. I do love these bands, and Robbie Williams "The Ego has Landed" is my favorite CD because there is so much variety, yet each song sounds geniune, like he really did experience all of this {which I believe he did}.

There wasn't a woman stripping in their first hit.
I think "1985" cheats by capitalizing off the recent wave of 80's nostalgia. I find it a cheap way to get airtime. It's an all right song, but it's no "Girl All the Bad Guys Want."

I actually saw the video a few weeks ago and it's one of the funniest clips I've seen for a while.
With spoofs of Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love", George Micheal's "Faith", Whitesnake "Here I Go Again", Motley Crue, and breakdancing. 8)
I also liked "Girl All The Bad Guys", but had forgotten about it.
Though I have the video, that poked fun at numetal videos, on a tape.

I heard this song for the first time today on the radio at my dentist's office. While, yes, it mentions a lot of 80's standard fare, I didn't like the song. They sound like punk rock posers. No thanks.

I noticed in the video that they're spoofing all these 80s icons. There's Goerge Michael, Robert Palmer, and numerous others, yet they aren't even specifically from 1985, so I think it's a little 'off'...
As for the song, it just sounds like more pop-rock-blink182-sum41-etc stuff to me. But it's just me.

It's ok, but it's not great! I do agree that a lot of the things they talk about have nothing to do with 1985, though.

nope,it's not just you..i kept hearing about BFS but had no clue since whenever i heard the song i thought it was one of the bands you mentioned..it doesn't thrill me but it's ok.

I saw the clip on the weekend and it cracked me up - big fat guys doing Addicted To Love send up.
The lyrics - that I was able to catch - were funny.
The actual "sound" I didnt like - too screamy and noisy style for me.

I really like it. I'd seen the video once and it made me laugh, but I hadn't really listened to the words--now that I have, it makes me laugh even more. Part of it could have been written straight up for me! LOL! ;)
Anyway, I answered "guilty pleasure", because it is kind of dumb, but I can't help but absolutely love it in some ways! ;D

I'm not sure what "It Bites" means - I think it means fantastic, right? - so I just said great. But I would have rather said fantastic, because that's what this song is! I haven't heard something this catchy since Linkin' Park's "Breaking the Habit." And it's ever so funny as well, particularly the video clip! :)
