Subject: I Love the 2000s

Written By: Kyle on 07/22/04 at 8:53 pm

A week ago, I was watching the premiere of "I Love the'90s" on VH1, and I got to thinking about in the next 10 years that "I Love the 2000s" will be like.  Here is my version of what's going to be shown on I Love the 2000s, year by year.  SO FAR

2000:  A lot similar to 1999, with Y2K, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and maybe the Mumbo No. 5.  I don't remember 2000 too much, it's like any other year.  Don't forget that 2000 election problem.

2001:  The Bubblegum Pop, and the Teen Pop era maximum.  N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Harry Potter, Shrek, 9/11.

2002:  The Year of Grunge in the 2000s.  Bands such as Kid Rock come to life.  Also don't forget the first Spiderman, Spongebob Sqaurepants (just like 1990s Ren and Stimpy).  That's about it.

2003:  The Year in Music.  Hip hop stars like Missy Elliot.  Not much rememberable to 2003.

2004:  Janet Jacksons Super Bowl Accident, Usher, Spiderman 2, The Day After Tommorow, The Passion of the Christ, Ashlee Simpson, Shrek 2, and many others.  I call this year, the year of the movies.

So here is my "I Love the 2000s."  What do you think might be on "I Love the 2000s" in the next ten years.  ???

I would say that i love the 2000's would be like this....

2000 = Bush steals the election,Pokemon, digimon, America gets killed with pop music lol, flare jeans (very shinny jeans ) and no Y2k lol (this would be the boring one because nothing really happend in 2000) ohh its the last year in the 20th Century. The 21st Century began on Jan. 1, 2001 12:00 am.

2001 = 9/11, No doubt gets big so did Outkast and Alicia Keys.M.Jordan comes backs to the NBA and trades on Chicago for the wizards,  "sweet" Pop music reaches its peak and finally busts to a rap and r and b sound  ;D

2002 = Ashanti, Avril L., Christina gets "dirtty",Salt Lake City 2002 winter Olympics frauds Brittney Spears takes a break from music,Red mountain due, vanilla coke,i think Pepsi Blue too .. almost every girl u saw had denim bellbottoms...the 70's comeback was at its peak in this year.

2003 = BEYONCE crazy in love should be the theme song for this year because it was soooo huge. America goes to war in Iraq, 50 cent gets huge, we found Saddam, "Benifer", Ugg boots, trucker hats, low rise boot cut jeans.M Jackson gets into trouble again (to me this year was one of the most memorable. lots of things happend in 2003)

2004 = Janet Jackson X posed, Mars rover landings, Gay Marriage, Election 2004, Martha S. trials, 9/11 commission, B2K breaks up, Benifer Breaks up,J Lo gets married to Marc Anthony,M. Jackson might have 4 babies on the way (yea thats a new one lol).Brittney Spears gets a fake wedding in Las Vegas  ;D

  PREDICTIONS

*2005= predictions President Kerry inaugurated in Jan., 80's comeback at its peak.. the
30's 50's and 60's comeback in fashion. Freedom Tower begins to rise from WTC crater...3 New huge ppl in music (dont know who it will be). Ashlee Simpson goes main stream and rivals in competition with her sister. Beyonce's " pink panther" comes out. Jay -Z cant live in retirement and comes back.

*2006= New Indiana Jones movie comes out, Martha S. comesback and is stronger than ever.

*2007 = Spider Man 3 comes out, New type of music emerges so does a new type of Fashion

*2008 = Fashion of the next decade is slowly revealed
*2009 = Freedom Tower Complete

Subject: What will be the new fashion.

Written By: Kyle on 07/23/04 at 1:55 pm

I'm just wondering, what will be the new fashion of 2007-2008 be?  How about the new music?  Would it be 1990s Grunge again, 1980s New wave, '70s Disco, or '60s Soul?  Tell me about it.  I'm interested.  There has been a noticeable fashion change happening right now.  Hip Hop and R & B are starting to fade away and we are goin' back to the '90s.  By 2005, the early '90s will come back and even a few '80s.  Tell me about it!  :)

I've not seen much change in fashion between 2004 and 1996.  There as been some, but not a lot.  The retro-70ish style is still popular after all these years and years. You could still wear some clothes from 1996 and probably get away with it.

Compare that with 10 years ago.  There was no way in hell anyone could walk around in a 1986 style back in 1994.  And certainly no way that anyone could walk around in a 1976 style back in 1984.

I was thinkin about somemore things that could be on i love the 2000's...(instead of grim things like September 11,2001)

The "Metrosexual" ... = 2002
Arnold S. wins the Cali election for gov. =2003
Rhinestoned Cell phones = early 2000's
Flare Jeans and Jackets = 2000-2002
huge hoop earings = early-mid 2000's
Chuck Taylor shoe comeback = 2003-now
The silly color coated Terror alert system = 2002
Firestone Tire accendents (funny how that turned into a joke) = 2001
The game of "Snap" (played with jellie bracelts)
The color pink (now its cool for men and boys to wear LIGHT pink) = 2003- now
Trucker Hats = 2003
Von Dutch = 2003
the mini skirt comeback = 2003-now

Im sure theres alot more  silly things that we are doing or have done in the 2K's that will be Nastalgic 30 years from now....

;D "Its i love the 2K's (Crazy in love in the back ground playing) The chicks..(shows, Beyonce,Jenifer Aniston, Kirsten Dunst and Jlo clip) the flicks...(shows The Day After Tomarrow, Minority Report,Like Mike, the Nutty Pofessor 2 clip) and the Fashions of the 2K's!!(Shows ugg boots, hoop earings, mini skirts, Timberland Boots, striped shirts with muilti colors going horizontal, and sand blasted jeans clip).

Here is my own personal one for this decade:
2000-I started working construction with my friend Mike after being seasonally employed as a counselor/Supervisor at Goodwill Undustries since 1994.....
We aquired two kittens (Ralph & Sam) after losing our Cat "Mr. Bigglesworth" to a poisoning the year before....Blaine made the high school wrestling and track teams. Randall & Brian made the Middle school basketball and wrestling teams. Paul made the freshman track team.

2001-Dale Earnhardt died in February....on March 26th my son Blaine lost his best friend since Kindergarten, to cancer...Rob was 17. In mid April my oldest son Richard lost his girlfriend Evangeline...she had a rollover accident on her  way home from school, she was also 17. The girl with her had nary a scratch. My wife joined the church chior and we all went to see her at a Mothers Day service...Two weeks later my families world fell apart on April 26th as our Beloved Blaine was murdered at the
subway restaraunt he worked at....Blaines favorite Pro Hockey team...The Colorado Avalanche, won the Stanley Cup in June....I took my son Paul out to Nebraska to visit my brother in August. In October the Arizona Diamondbacks won the World Series over the Yankees...Blaine was born in Mesa, Arizona.....My family experienced a stregnth and closeness as we went to friends houses for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays...

2002-I found this place in January...I met some really wonderful people here, Banasy, Jessica, Zella CeramicsFanatic (Who had a different name then) and many other wonderful people....and some not so nice people...but the good outnumbered them :)  My boys continued to participate in school activities and showed wonderful stregnth in moving forward with thier lives.

2003-The year began badly as my wife and I continued to grow apart. In April she moved out and I filed for divorce. I met someone I hadn't seen in 20 years and we got into a business together....my wife moved to Utah and...found her childhood sweetheart. I experienced the ups and downs of the HUGE changes in my life. My son Randall stayed here in town with me while my boys Paul & Brian moved to Utah....My oldest, Richard, met a wonderful lady, got married and they had a baby girl.

2004-I went to Utah to pick up Brian and met Dagwood (Dagny) and her daughter! My shop opened officially in May...I continue to see Randall & Brian regularly...Brian is going back to Utah later this month for the school year. Randall is getting his license in a few weeks. Paul is working in Utah as is Richard....and I'm getting happier although the dizzy spells seem to be getting worse :-\\

So far....I kinda hate the 2000's

Garage Rock Revival. The Detroit Scene. The Swedish Invasion. White Stripes, the Strokes, The Hives, The Vines, Franz Ferdinand, Stills, Interpol. And what about stoner rock. Queens of the Stone Age. There is good music out there. Hasn't anyone heard of the Soundtrack of Our Lives, Sahara Hotnights, Hot Hot Heat, Muse, Distillers, etc. People focuse on all the negatives (boybands, bubblegum pop), and lose sight of all the good bands, who may not be dominating the charts, but are there if you look for them. I think we should be called the Napster Generation. Our generation has a powerful tool that other generations didn't have. We don't have to listen to mainstream radio or Mtv. The record labels won't tell us what to listen to. I haven't listened to mainstream radio in years. I download my music because it gives me choice. I listen to online radio stations that match my specific tastes. I look up a band or an artist on the net, and then I download a few of their songs to see if I like them. It is the way of the future, hundreds of millions of people are dowloading songs, burning custom mixes onto blank cds, or putting them into mp3 players that hold thousands of songs. Satellite radio, digital radio, and internet radio is a great alternative to the stale playsets of tradition radio stations. By the way cdnow and allmusic are great to lookup artists, songs, albums, etc. Who cares what's mainstream, top 20, playing on Mtv. I don't follow the Billboard Charts and I don't read Rolling Stone. I have the power, and that power is called the internet.

I wouldnt ever wanna wear anything from 1996, you would be the laughing stock of the school. :P

To talk on a Fashion point of view I would have to say 1999 had more of a 70's style now in 2004 its going for a retro 1986 look. Its just a tiny change . 1999 compared to 2004, but Its slowly changing to something diffrent. Fashion takes awhile for ppl to accept and 5 years I dont think Is long enough to do that.

2004: Spider-man 2, The Incredibles, National Treasure, Harry Potter & The Prisoner Of Azkaban
2005: Revenge Of The Sith, The Producers, Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire...?
2006: Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Cars, Casino Royale...?
2007: Spider-man 3, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, 300, Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix

What do yo think that 2008 will be like?  More dance hopefully... I like to see artists such as Cascada, DHT, September, all these people come in.  And what would be cool for next year.  A single with T-pain and Daft Punk together.  Both use the electronic voice and that will sound cool!!!

I don;t see Cascada or DHT being big anymore since they had a bip of popularity in the mid 00's.
I think people are still into glam rap like a little bit but definately as much popularity wise as 2003-early 2006. I don;t know its hard to tell actually whats going to be big in 2008. Maybe R&B.

Movies

2000: People really underestimate this one. Not a spectacular year, but one with a lot of solid hits that would be big influences on movie trends for the decade; Gladiator and the sword and sandal epics, X-Men and the superhero films, and Crouching Tiger's helping martial arts explode. Erin Brockovich is one of those inspirational movies that could be ripe for parody.  I Love loves its sports movies, so Bring It On and Remember the Titans could get in. Finally, people might have fun with the Vollyeball prop from Castaway

2001: A lot of range can be covered. On the blockbuster end there's Shrek and Ocean's Eleven, best picture nominees like Moulin Rouge! and A Beautiful Mind, darker indie fare like Memento and Mulholldand Drive, which have WTFfactor that would make for great commentary. I can imagine somebody pushing for Royal Tenenbaums or Zoolander, even though they weren't that huge. For those with darker intentions, on the other end of the quality spectrum, there's Glitter. And of course, the kickstart of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, but those are phenomenons not confined to one year, and Potter in particular is a huge multimedia phenomenon, so those could show up anywhere.

2002: This is the year of movies, plain and simple. (and the biggest attendence year since the 50s!) Spider-Man, The Bourne Identity, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Chicago, Minority Report, Catch Me if You Can, The Ring, 8 Mile, Gangs of New York...there almost wasn't a week that went by without some film that caught fire in the public conciousness at least to some extent. Hell, even middlers like Unfaithful stand a chance.

2003: Not a hell of a lot to choose from, but Pirates of the Carribean and Kill Bill are pretty strong. And I expect this to wrap up the LOTR saga. I wouldn't be surprised to see School of Rock, Mystic River, Lost in Translation or Seabiscuit.

2004: This is really the year of TV. Too many of the blockbusters are sequels, (or just plain forgettable) but there's bit of smaller stuff to focus on. There's Napoleon Dynamite, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and of course, Mean Girls, which is naughts nostalgia waiting to happen. The Frat Pack movies were in full force, where Starsky and Hutch, Anchorman and Dodgeball had to have featured every member of the clique between them. The year was more of a guilty pleasure goldmine with National Treasure, Van Helsing, Troy, and Phantom of the Opera. Generally speaking, in 2004, comedy is king, but there's always Million Dollar Baby.

2005: Not the largest quanitity of titles, but made up for in stuff to choose from. Of course, there's Brokeback Mountain. Wedding Crashers and 40 Year Old Virgin were big comedies at the time, and Batman got a big shot in the arm, moviewise. Sin City has a following, and Mr and Mrs. Smith was a story on many levels. Chronciles of Narnia was a big hit, but I'm not 100% sure that might be covered. Also, I don't expect a lot of sequels to show up, but the final Star Wars film could be an exception.

2006: Not a great year in general, but luckily you only have a couple of movies you need to focus on; The Departed and Borat are easy choices. Maybe Happy Feet. There were excellent films that year, mind you, but I don't see them covering United 93.

2007: The year was galvanized between big and dumb (300 and TransformersThere Will be Blood, No Country For Old Men) We'll have to see what holds up over time.

TV will be a bit briefer, and we don't know what year it will line up with, but

2000: CSI, Survivor, Gilmore Girls, The Weakest Link, Cribs Curb Your Enthusiams. Ed
2001: Smallville, Alias, 24, The Amazing Race, Band of Brothers, Fear Factor, Crossing Jordan, Six Feet Under
2002: American Idol, The Shield
2003: The OC, Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Las Vegas, Mythbusters, Nip/Tuck, One Tree Hill, Punk'D, Queer Eye
2004: The Apprentice, Deadwood, Desperate Housewives, Entourage, Lost, Veronica Mars
2005: Bons, HouseDancing With the Stars, Deal or No Deal, Grey's Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Prison Break, My Name is Earl
2006: Heroes, Ugly Betty.

It's a little hard to see what TV shows are going on now (Though 2007 has started an inauspicous TV season, and not just because of the strike) I probably missed a couple, but this should cover most of the movies and TV.

I'd imagine for 2000 that there would be something about 90210 coming to an end, and obviously 9/11 for 2001.

2008 - What is with all of these annoying Prime-Time Game Shows?  I was relieved when reality TV went away, but it was replaced by Game Shows,  And mindless ones, like that Deal or No Deal where you just guess a number. Come On!

Ken Jennings is my hero!

The only part of the 2000s that I liked was the early 2000s (2000-2003).  The music around that time still had that late 90s feel to it.  I think by late 2003 the music changed.  Even though there was still some good music in 2004 and 2005, the early 2000s had the best music.

I'm like you.  I like the 80s and 90s music better, and there's no changing in that, but as far as 2000s, I like the early 2000s music because it still has that late 90s feel to it, after that, it went downhill.

I stopped listening to the radio in like late 2007 myself. At least the first half of 2007 and summer of that year sounded like core 00's(2003-mid 2007.) But by late 2007 I pretty much outgrew the music scene. I think the start of the 2007-2008 school year pretty much ended it for me.

There's a HUGE difference between early 00's music and early 10's music, and it's just 10 freakin years. The biggest difference is the change in tempo, the early 00's were far more laid-back, bland, toned down compared to the early 10's music and fashion. Sure the early 00's some up tempo music(early crunk), but nothing like the dominant electro-house of the early 10's.

I'm a Pandora/Slacker fan myself. The best thing about internet radio is there's much more music variety and way less commercials.
