Subject: trend in U.S. society??
Written By: CBH1989er on 07/20/04 at 2:40 am
Has anyone noticed a trend in our society? Heres what i think. It seems like every 40 years In United States history there was a pattern in our life style and economy. Let's go waaaay back to the 1890's. In the 1890's America was having a depression. In the 1900's (1900-1909) compaines were growing , branching off... . In the 1910's the economy was strong. In the 1920's the economy was at its strongest its "peak" and almost everyone was having a blast until October 1929 when the stock market crashed :o . That gave way to the next depression in the 1930's. Now this whole system repeats its self... . In the 1940's companies began to grow and branch off... . In the 1950's the economy was strong. In the 1960's the economy was once again at this "peak" where everyone had a blast until it busted in the 1970's :o . Now the whole system repeats its self again! In the 1980's companies began to grow. In the 1990's the economy was strong... . In the 2000's the economy was at its strongest (very early 2000's before September 11,2001). So does this mean that the U.S. is due for another great depression in the 2010's :o ? what do u think? :P

Sounds a lot like Strauss and Howe's Turnings theory.

It's the 4 phases of the economy.
Peak, recession, trough, expansion.
