Subject: not to be grimm...but not that many really old stars left?
Written By: saver on 07/05/04 at 6:59 pm
Brando's gone...others that we looked up to aren't all that old, so we shouldn't have a string of other celebs to go yet? Will there be a threesome this time-and how long is it considered going in 3's?
Paul Newman-70's,Redford, still young etc...
Then there is Carol Channing, Red Buttons....

Hmmm... I just noticed that when the BBS software sees a certain nickname for the name "Richard", it instead substitutes the word "dip". ???

When I thought old, I was thinking 80+...That's the average lifespan in the news.
Kenny Rogers is the father of 2 new twins! Maybe that's the sign of the downfall...like Anthony Quinn, Tony Randall etc..??
I'll guess the Pope and some other old singer...

Hey, I was just listening to one of his CDs of labor ballads from Smithsonian-Folkways today. Yes, it'll be sad when he dies, but on the bright side, what a life, what a legacy! He and his family (including Mike Seeger, Charles Seeger, and Peggy Seeger) have done more to preserve and advance traditional folk music than anyone else, except maybe Alan Lomax.

Now I remember. She's a fellow Pittsburgher. Her real name was Rita Wright.
She and Billy Preston also did With You I'm Born Again back in the 1980's. It was a great song.

Jack LaLanne, the Juce guy, will be 90 years old this coming September.
http://www.jacklalanne.com/fingertip2.jpg
That would have made him about 53 years old when he did that Iron Cross. Here is his interesting biography from IMDb.com :
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0482364/
"LaLanne was addicted to sugar as a child, causing him to commit acts of violence, including setting his parents' house on fire and attacking his brother with an ax. He was so weak his family physician recommended he be removed from school to rest and regain his strength. Around this time, he and his mother attended a lecture by Paul C. Bragg, a nutritionist who told LaLanne he was a human garbage can. LaLanne turned his life around with a strict diet and exercise. By the age of 18, he was running a home bakery selling healthy breads, and a home gym where he trained policemen and firemen in exercise and weightlifting. LaLanne's reputation as a physical fitness guru eventually led to his 20-year stint as the host of TV's _"Jack LaLanne Show, The" (1963)_ . There he taught exercise aimed principally at homemakers, using items found around the home. Even as he exceeds 80 years of age, LaLanne continues to boast a fine physique and encourage fans with health and fitness tips through videos and writing."

I see there are plenty of older TV and comics(R. Dangerfield,Rickles).
I guess I am referring to MOVIE STARS-over 75,that were looked up to like a Brando...Paul Newman may be there,70's are still kicking-the average lifespan now is 80.
The juice men were tv..Andy Griffith has film status so he works, Angela Landsbury. Liz Taylor?(70's)
With the turn over of film stars today, who will give a hoot when any of themÂÂ
leave?
I think singers are now the stars of our times and will be mourned most??
