Wow, that's surprising.  Not many people knew that.  They first came out in like '93 with the album "Southernplayalistacadillacmuzik".  That's  a great album.  From there, IMO they fell.  However, I do really like their current song "Roses".  But their first album by far the best they did.

I like Outkast best of the ones listed.  I can't think of any other "new" artists that I like...maybe Jay-z on a few on his songs.
Truthfully, I don't like a lot of the new rock bands coming out.  Linkin Park, Good Charlotte, White Stripes...I don't know, it's something about they're voices that kinda irritates me.  :-\  Sorry

In Australia at the moment there's a song called Take Me Out by a Scottish (I think) band called Franz Ferdinand - IMO they have quite an 80s sound (well that particular song does).  Have you heard anything of them in Canada.  Knowing how much you like the 80s I thought you'd be interested to hear some hep stuff with an 80s feel.  :D  By the way I love the song.

The Sounds have a retro '80's new wave vibe with their album "Living In America". . Worth listening to.  8)
