Before reading the article, some of you may be interested in knowing that tonight on PBS there will be a special presentation:

"Sesame Street Presents: The Street We Live On."

This retrospective airs on most PBS stations 8 p.m. EST Sunday, then serves as the season opener the next day (check local listings).

Is it me or is that Sesame Street is not the way it used to be 20 years ago when you had the old theme song Sunny Day in the beginning,Mr.Hooper(god rest his soul)always talked to Big Bird,David(god rest his soul as well)enjoyed everyone's company,Snuffy,The FruitMan,Fix It Shop,Ernie and Bert Skits,Count Counting,Oscar screaming at Maria calling her "Bright Eyes"?That's why I don't watch it anymore. But,I do have Sesame Street on videocassette from 1997 to save for my old age, maybe? ;D

I am a first generation S.S. watcher. It was a much simpler show back then. They didn't teach us how to speak Spanish (when I saw that years later, I felt like I was ripped off). There was deffinately no Elmo. We had Cookie Monster (who was my fav)-I even had a my own Cookie Monster puppet/muppet). I haven't seen the show in years so I can't say if it is better or worse then it was back then. But I really hope that it is on for at least another 35 years.

I haven't seen it in a long time, actually in Canada we know have sesame park, but I grew up with Sesame Street, and I used to love Snuffalufagus and Oscar, but when I watched the park version when I was babysitting, niether was on, and it seemed like it was mainly Elmo, whom I never really 'loved' found him ok, but Cookie Monster was better.  Is it possible these guys aren't on as much because Oscar was always mean, grouchy, and Cookie monster did not lead a healthy lifstyle, so with all of the censoring, and the mentality that shows need to teach kids, these characters are not modern/safe enough?
