Subject: RIP JJ Jackson

Written By: ChrisBodilyTM on 03/18/04 at 05:16 p.m.

Last night, legendary MTV VJ JJ Jackson died from a heart attack at the age of 62.

He gave the first "Hello" on MTV. He was the first to expose KISS without their makeup. He also hosted the 1985 Live Aid concert.

Before becoming a VJ, he was a radio DJ and hosted Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Pink Floyd concerts.

He will be missed. RIP  :'(

I am sorry to hear this.

Man that's bad.  :'(   I did not realize that JJ was 62.

These things seem to come in 3's.  I wonder who is gonna be next... an MTV figure, or someone named Jackson?  ???

He was my favorite among the original MTV Veejays, and I'm afraid they'll never be any jocks to match his professionalism and good manner. I personally will miss him. :'(

So sad!  In an article I read about it someone said that JJ will surely be in the music section of heaven, surrounded by his friends and heroes.   :'(

I hope MTV does something to acknowledge what a huge part of the MTV family he was.  After I heard, I flipped over to MTV and all I got was an episode of Newlyweds.  No comment!

>:( Then MTV will be forever boycotted by those who grew up with the network in the '80's & '90's.

I remember watching clips of him on "Uncensored: MTV" (the history of MTV), &  "Authentic Reproduction", a show in 1997 that shown old interview bits & music videos from the '80's.
Back when the network cared about the past & still played videos.  :)

All they did was just a 2 minute MTV news coverage. No "Special Programming" like an 1/2 hour news thing or memorable interviews/events.   :(

It's very sad. I feel like part of my youth has been taken away. He will live forever in our heart's.
