Subject: Yankees get Pay-Rod
Bah!
Let's try to buy another championship, shall we? :P

Forget about the Red Sox curse. This latest Yankee transaction is a curse to the other Major League Baseball teams. But I just couldn't see A-Rod in a Detroit Tigers uniform.

A-Rod is an amazing player and we were certainly happy to have him in Seattle.
On the other hand his contract with Texas was rediculous and while I can't really blame him for accepting I can be disgusted with baseball for allowing the sport to bury itself that deep in salaries. >:(
It's just freakin' baseball! ::)

What the Yankees have just done to the BoSox is the equivalent of erasing Daffy Duck's parachute and replacing it with an anvil.

Great....yet ANOTHER reason for me to hate those Yankers :P

Well there will be a sequel movie, Field of Dreams 2 coming out shortly.
In this version, the baseball field is not built by a farmer in Iowa, but by baseball players themselves. And instead of being built in a corn field, then ballyard is built right outside the Bank of America.
Voices are heard saying "Pay us and we will come". The tear-jerker scene is when Club owners, past and present, mysteriously emerge from the bank vault with wads of cash in hand. The players then engage in a game or two.

I don't follow the sport that closely, but I have a feeling it won't be as wonderful a purchase as the Yankees think it is. All the money they spend on this guy takes that much more away from the other players they need. One or two stellar players does not a team make.

It amazes me how much these athletes get paid when we have school teachers, healthcare workers, and other professions who deserve so much more in pay and get crapped on! >:(

I think minor league baseball is better,the guys who play do so for the love of the game. We have a minor-league team in Atlantic City,they are called the Atlantic City SURF!! They play in a municipal stadium very reminiscent of old major league parks,it's called The Sandcastle. The players are actually friendly and mingle with fans before and after the game to say hi and give FREE autographs(something major league players have forgotten about!). The AC Surf are in The ATLANTIC LEAGUE of Professional Baseball,and they've won the championship a couple of times!
