Subject: Beyonce'...Your Thoughts
I think she is one of the most overhyped singers today who isn't much of a great dancer nor singer. I've seen a couple of her videos and she basically does the same dance moves and most of her songs, especially with Destiny's Child, sounds the same. :P
Much like an R&B answer to Britney Spears.
What's your opinion? Good or bad.
Subject: Re: Beyonce'...Your Thoughts
She is an extremely unexpressive singer. She adds this robo-bland flatness to most of her songs. Occasionally she can do a good soul shout ("Work It Out") or finds songs that work around her weaknesses ("Crazy in Love"). On any song that actually requires emotion out of her, Survivor being the worst example, she is absolutely unlistenable.
Dang she's hot though.

This seems to be the number one requirement of today's music peddlers.
I'll take Carole King or Janis Joplin over "Bouncy" or Britany any day...

She looked like she was going into convulsions when she sang with Prince at The Grammys.
Subject: Re: Beyonce'...Your Thoughts
Have you noticed how she has to have people behind her all the time, whether it be Destiny's Child or other back up dancers? It's like she's afraid to be on stage by herself. I did like the Goldmember soundtrack. Other than that, all her stuff sounds alike. I don't understand the hype.

I don't much care for Beyonce. Or Destiny's Child: all the songs sound the same. However, I did like "Me and My Girlfriend" that she sings with Jay-Z and I like her new song "Me, Myself, and I."
Subject: Re: Beyonce'...Your Thoughts
I'm kind of eerily indifferent towards her. It's like I've seen it all before . . .

I have to admit that I am not too fond Beyonce' image. I can't say I don't like her, because I am sure she is a very nice girl. However, two things I wish she would not do are #1 trail her voice. I cannot stand that and she manages to do it a lot. #2 She seems to copy Tina Turners style of dance and movement. One Tina Turner is good for me. You can't duplicate Tina, she is one of a kind.

Can't stand her...
Subject: Re: Beyonce'...Your Thoughts
I think she keeps getting the wrong songs to sing... I'm sure she might be able to sing something- just nothing with too much emotion in it, as My_Name_Is_Kenny said. She's too young, and lacks the experience to do songs about emotions.

I think she's hot, as long as I don't have to listen to her.

Like most so-called female "R&B" singers today, Bouncy can not seem to hold a note! All she does is flap her lips and do that "who-OH-ah-whoa-OH" thing instead of holding a note. So they overproduce her videos and have lots of butt-wiggling to make up the difference.
Christina Aguilera can out-sing and out-sleaze Bouncy any day of the week, anyway. And she did not need Daddy to buy her way into fame.
Where, OH WHERE, are the fine R&B singers like the reverend Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and Minnie Ripperton? Now THEY were fine voices...

But, she butchered the Star-Spangled Banner at the All-Star game.
On that note, why can't singers sing it the way it is supposed to be sung? Yeah, jazz it up a little, but nowdays, most of the time it's sung, you can't even tell that's what they're singing.

That's why I think Clay Aiken did such a good job when he sang it for the opening game of the World Series. IMO He's just a good singer anyway. You don't find many of them in the music industry today.

I think she has a beautiful voice, just don't particularly like the songs she does. Also, not sure if it's an optical illusion, but is there something odd with the two halves or her body? Don't think the tush and legs go with the trunk. Maybe, I didn't see something right on the tv, but what I think I saw looked most peculiar.
Subject: Re: Beyonce'...Your Thoughts
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. I had noticed that something didn't look quite right, but wasn't sure how. You explained it perfectly!

A class example of todays' pop pap. Overhyped, overrated, overexposed, overbuttocked, over here. Undertalented, underdressed, underwhelming. I'd definitely agree with her seemingly emulating Tina Turner, whether intentional or not (she looks ridiculous too)...at least Tina had some talent to start with, though personally I think her music went downhill post-Ike. I'm sure Beyondme will continue to grow & grow (won't be any room for anyone behind her if her 'personality' grows any larger...), but I think it's pretty sad that pop stars nowadays are valued more for their looks than their ability. There are parallels between her & J-Lo- it seems if you declare yourself to be beautiful (or, indeed, the most beautiful woman in the world, which J-Ho definitely isn't), then the media follow that lead & advise us to believe the same. We definitely live in an age of 'cult of hype', perhaps more so than ever before. Doesn't work for me, 'specially when the proclaimed beauty has a face & body like a bag of spanners...

I think Beyonce is sexy. She's not the greatest singer in the world nor greatest dancer. She's just the modern day "Diana Ross" who leaves her Supremes in the dust. Diana Ross is talented ---please no one take offense... I just meant that Beyonce has taken center stage the same way Diana did.
I agree... Beyonce does nothing but rip off Tina Turner's moves. Where's the originality??? She cracks me up because she wants to give us this "wholesome" bullcrap but then in her videos she's rolling around on the ground like a lionness in heat. LOL haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ::)
Despite all of that, she's sexy though... ;D
Subject: Re: Beyonce'...Your Thoughts
All her songs are so similar, it's annoying. If you've heard one, you've heard 'em all. That could be said for 99% of today's artists, though.
I have to say, though, I loved her dress at the Grammy's.

What really irks me about Bouncy is the way the media and her hype machine are always trying to jam her down my throat. In my case, the more an artist is "hyped", the less I want to hear them.
I feel the same way about Norah Jones. If I hear one more hyped-up story about her, I'm gonna blow chunks :P .
But at least Norah can hold a note and carry a decent tune, without all the butt-wiggling and overproduction.
Bouncy couldn't sing "Happy Birthday" without 25 backup dancers and a synth machine.
