Subject: Do you know what you did on Sept. 10th, 2001?
Written By: jesuisunpizza on 01/27/04 at 06:27 p.m.
This date is totally overshadowed by Sept. 11th. I don't know what I did, but probably had homework and later played computer games. I cannot remember anything specific from Sept. 10th.
Can anyone remember something specific they did?

I think I was just watching TV like normal and getting ready for lab the next day, as we had a lab meeting to discuss research. It was a fairly normal day.
The next day was far from normal. After the lab meeting, a graduate student down the hall told us that a plane had just hit the Pentagon. All hell broke loose from there and no work got done the rest of the day.

Sure do. I was waiting to call up and see if I had to serve jury duty the next day. I remember being elated because I didn't have to. The next day's events would have gotten me out of it anyway....but that's really not how I would have imagined getting out of jury duty. :'(

A normal work day and getting my daughter to nursery. I was on my own because my husband was in France at a meeting. He flew home on the 13th I think.
I was probably trying to find my dad's birthday card and present because it was his birthday the following day. If I hadn't gone to see him that evening I probably wouldn't have known anything about it because I rarely watch the news when I'm alone.

I got into a fight with my boyfriend that day. We worked it out that night, and the next day (the 11th), we realized how trivial our argument was compared to what happened that day.

I spent the day and evening of the 10th helping my mum and her partner pack for their big once in a lifetime kinda holiday.
They were in a plane heading for the US the next day as I watched Sept11 events unfold.
It took me two days to get an email from them - they had been diverted back to Hong Kong for a few days until travel was safe.

I remember it well. My youngest had the stomach flu and was puking all over the house. Hubby came home, had a fit because the carpet was stained everywhere he threw up (he was only 6 months old at the time). I had just gotten off the phone with the carpet cleaning company when the first plane hit on 09/11.

On that monday, I went to work as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary. I was going through a divorce at the time. Basically, I had to go over some things with my attorney.

I was scuba diving in the Scilly Isles (St Martin I think)
This is off the South West coast of the UK.
I don't remember the specifics of any day on the trip but I remember pretty well what I was doing during the initial reactions/discussions amongst the party.
I could actually check my dive log and find out reasonably accurately where I was on any day.

I practiced singing the national anthem because we were having a volleyball game the next day, and my choir teacher had asked me to sing.
When I look back on Sept. 10, and the fact that I got asked to sing the national anthem, I feel a bit weird.
I remember writing in my journal the next day:
"The game has been canceled. In a way, that's good, for how can I sing about 'the land of the free and the home of the brave?' We're more like the home of the scared."
It's true, though...a lot of Americans did lose their sense of security, myself included. I was only a sophomore in high school.
Of course, in a way, I'm glad that I was asked to sing the national anthem the day before that tragedy. Because by the time the game was rescheduled, I had had time to think...time to know...time to truly understand the reason why we are free. On the night of the game, I did, if I do say so myself, the best rendition of our national anthem I've ever done. It's no longer just a song to me anymore. It's the story of how we fought...and will continue to fight...for our freedom.

We bought ours about a month before.
My husband's daughter was visiting us at the time. I don't know specifically what we were doing. Probably watching t.v. talking, etc.

Can't specifically remember. I must've been at school. The next day, I had heard about the attacks after school. First on the radio in the taxi, on the radio in my room and then on BBC News 24 which my dad was watching.

All I remember from 9-10 was that I went to work and I was glad the neighborhood kids were back in school. I didn't have anything that would think that the next day's tragedy would unfold. :'(
