Subject: Which singers would pass or fail A.I. auditions?
If a famous singer was to try out for American Idol would they make it? there's a few that i could forever list that Simon would hate. What do you think?

Ironic that you mentioned this thread. My sister was watching A.I> and the Dr. Pepper commercial with Smokey Robinson came on. She felt that Smokey would fail because he sings like half the bad singers on A.I. She also mention the lead singer of The Stylistics. I don't agree with her. But I do declare Paula Abdul would fail if she wasn't a judge. Also, Cyndi Lauper, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Deborah Harry, Pat Benatar, Mariah Carey, Britney. The list goes on and on. :-X

Actually, they played a trick on Simon one time on the Howard Stern Show. They had this guy audition and Simon said he was just ok.Turns out it was the guy who sang the "hero will save us" song from Spiderman forgot his name.

Macy Gray (Sings like she's drug-addled )
Rod Stewart (Sings like someone stuffed 4 Brillo Pads down his throat)

And Simon was right.

Without a doubt, Puff Daddy (P. Diddy or whatever his name is this week) wouldn't make it.

I saw that one. It was Josey Scott. I love that song.
I was flipping channels the other day and heard LeeAnn Rimes say she wanted to put on a disguise and go tryout to see what they would say. I think THAT would be hilarious!

Bob D & Bruce S have to be two of the worst singers ever to release records... but we're comparing apples with steamrollers, here: they write songs that people want to listen to, irrespective of the quality of the vocal.
Must admit, when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought "Artificial Intelligence"...

PS - in the Brit version, with Pete Waterman as one of the judges, I'd love to get to the audition and say "I was going to try and get on the right side of the judges by singing a Pete Waterman song... but I've listened to every song he's written and they're ALL CRAP!"
;-)

Many of these people mentioned may not sing like angels. But another aspect of the competition is originality, uniqueness. I believe these artists definitely have that going for them. So, I don't agree they would fail American Idol. Well, maybe Bob Dylan. ;D JUST KIDDING!! ;D LOL! I like Bob, especially his tune "Like A Rolling Stone". :)
I think many of today's artists would fail. Fortunately, I fail to remember their names. ;D
