Subject: RIAA Crusade Hits Major Stumbling Block - 12.19.03
Written By: Hairspray on 12/29/03 at 10:18 a.m.
The recording industry's crusade against illegal file-sharing suffered a major setback when a three-judge panel determined the method used to identify online pirates could no longer be used.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia overturned a previous federal decision that upheld the Recording Industry Association of America's practice of obtaining the identity of suspected illegal file-sharers through their Internet service providers.

Hooray!
Score:
Us: 1
Greedy RIAA: 0
:D
I am to the point where I feel that anything that causes the RIAA to stumble is a good thing. :) If they want to stop file-sharing, then go after the file-sharing sites, not the individuals. But then again, they wouldn't get their settlements that way. >:(
Shutting down a single site such as Kazaa would eliminate millions of file-swappers instantly. Going after individulas is asenine, but money speaks louder than common sense in this case I guess. ::)
