Subject: Our Door Is Closed
If you have read my post from the "Today Is" thread in PBG, then you know that our work area is under heavy security again, per and IG inspection several months ago. I work for the Feds, and our office/section is now required to shut our doors. No visitors are allowed, and authorized personnel are only allowed access with with a 6 digit code. It sucks, but it is a necessary evil, our directorate in Columbus, OH fears that bills are being stolen for personal gain. Does anyone else work under such scrutiny?

I work for the Govt. too and have to jump up each time someone, like FedEx, the postman, or whoever, rings the bell and let them in. we have no receptionist (budget cuts), thus, everyone sits in their offices waiting for a cohort to open the front door. They all used to jump and greet our guests but now they are bored and lazy and have the nerve to tell me, hey BJ26, would you get the door?" :P

Well I'm currently unemployed, but at my old job they used to make us check people's bags no excuses. MAn, the the things people brought to the movies with them ::)

I work at a university research lab and my work area has a 4 digit door code access. Never quite worked out what they think people are going to pinch but there you go. Two entrances have door bells for other people to gain access. It's sort of my job to answer the doors and deal with any visitors but other people will go as well. Technically I am supposed to wear an ID card but don't because hardly anyone else does. The Security personnel and Estates staff do but that's about it.
