Subject: Woman Tries To Ban Puberty Book From Library

I think it's pretty sad when the library has a book glorifying violence and war, but won't include a book about sex/making children, especially one about puberty. Kind of ridiculous, you know.

That's lady is so dumb. I think it is a God given human right for kids to know about their bodies' especially when it comes to puberty. As far a sex, I'm all for education too. My mom taught me about EVERYTHING sex related when I was 6. I've made it 24 years without being a teen mom or having an STD.
Some people need to lighten up.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.  Puberty is something everybody goes through.  There are some kids who are embarassed to ask their parents, or God forbid, their parents won't talk to them about it.  At least they can look at a book and get explanations.

Schools tell kids about it in fourth grade anyway

Actually, I'd like kids much better if puberty itself were banned. ;)

The definition of pornography is probably 20% content and about 80% context. I hardly think that pictures (particularly drawings) of naked people in an educational book could be considered pornographic at all, unless you are: a) really, really sleazy-minded, or b) incredibly naive.

Well, not at my school.  Not a word til highschool (Gr.9).  I was never worried when it began, I somehow knew it was normal.

As for the woman, hmmm.... I'd be more worried about my kids learning about guns than a book on puberty.  Keep the sex education books in the library!
