Subject: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
Tomorrow night at 6:07 Mountain Time the moon will begin it's total eclipse...lasting some 24 minutes...hope you are able to see it clear wherever you may be ;)
Subject: Re: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
I've heard about that. The moon's supposed to be a rusty red color. I'll definitely be looking for it tomorrow night. :)
Subject: Re: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
It's supposed to be a clear sky here tomorrow, so I'll probably go look at it. Not for too long though because it's gonna be freezing out. *shivers*

That sounds weird-24 minutes. If it was a TOTAL eclipse it should last for 2 hours-the first hour is disappears and the 2nd hour it reappears. Unless you mean that it will be totally "gone" for 24 minutes-I'll buy that.
I have watched them before. They are totally awesome. If you get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it.

Well, it is 5:40 and the east is clear but way cloudy to the west. (threatening rain and snow)...I will go out at 6 to see if I can see the moon. I would love for my daughter to see it.

It is a very clear night now and wonderful viewing. I have been looking out the living room window every now again. DC has been going outside to snap pics of it too-but it is COLD out. It is truly spectacular to see. I hope everyone can see it.

It was too cloudy, couldn't even see the moon at all.
Subject: Re: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
I just got back in from seeing it. It's pretty much ending now but an hour ago it was quite beautiful. It was a light red brown from what I could see.
Subject: Re: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
meh, I couldn't see it, so I just played the song instead.
Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart.........
Subject: Re: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
Sorry you couldn't see it Koziol, It was quite beautiful. I didn't think it came near to as nice as the one that happened in the Summer of 1982 though...that one was very bright burnt orange...or as they called it, a witches moon.
Subject: Re: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
My kids and I watched it, it was cool. I liked this other kind of eclipse that happens in the daytime, and everything took on a blueish hue, a new color I've never seen. That was the coolest, anyone know what it was and when it will happen again? Last one was in abount 1997, methinks.

We've had clear weather for the LONGEST time now, and on the one night, that I don't want it to be cloudy...
It was CLOUDY!
Couldn't see a darn thing.
So depressing :(

Sorry yoos guys in San Jose and Nueva York missed it, but when I see an eclipse, I feel some primative instinct to run naked and go crazy and howl. Anyone have any ideas on why I would feel that way (besides being a kook)?

:o :oWell, when there's a total eclipse, the sky is a lot darker than usual,so it's harder to see you. However, there is more likely to be prople outside looking1Cheers!
Subject: Re: Total Eclipse Of The....MOON!
Had a great view from western Canada. Crystal clear skies..! :) We couldn't see the start as the moon was below the horizon but near totality and afterwards was completely visible. Kinda neat, I haven't seen a lunar eclipse in ages. If I had the big $$$ I would get myself one of those big telescopes with auto tracking for deep sky viewing. :D
The Usenet group: alt.binaries.pictures.astro usually has some excellent amateur astronomy pics posted there. 'Been getting lots of aurora pics lately.
