Zellweger Offered Millions To Lose Weight

Actress Renee Zellweger has been offered a massive $3.2 million to shed the weight she's put on for the Bridget Jones's Diary sequel, once shooting has wrapped. Diet giants Weightwatchers are tempting the Oscar nominee with a $110,000-per-pound sponsorship deal if she manages to lose 30 pounds after the movie, which has already netted the actress a reported $24 million. The company want Zellweger to follow British royal Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess Of York's slimming plan and appear with her in adverts when filming finishes on the Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason set at the start of next year. An insider says, "This is the easiest cash she'll ever earn. Being paid to eat more to play Bridget again is great, but getting even more cash just to shift that weight is beyond belief."

Okay, so I once read that Renee Zellweger is like 5'3" or so, and weighs about 105 pounds (that's before Bridget Jones' Diary).  That can hardly be considered "fat".  Now, she put on 20-30 pounds to play Bridget in the sequel, which would put her at 5'3", 130ish pounds.  Again, not fat.

So, I just thought it was kind of goofy for a diet company to make "normal-sized" women think they are fat, and compound that with a celebrity endorsement when that celebrity isn't even fat (my opinion, anyway).

Just my random thought o'today.

yeah, it is ridiculous.  First of all, she's not fat, even with the weight she put on for Bridget Jones.  Secondly, no one should be paid to loose weight!  It's ridiculous!   I agree with you that it comes across as diet companies trying to make average-looking women feel fat so they'll buy their products.  There's all this talk about how messed up it is that our culture values slimness so much and all the terrible consequences that has, and instead of doing something to change that, these people are just reinforcing it.

I don't see the point of her losing weight. She don't look fat to me. Paying somebody to lose weight who doesn't even need to lose weight its just ridiculous. She's in good shape physically from what I can see at 130 pounds or 105 pounds. I don't get Holllywood's thing that women that are at a normal weight are fat.

Chicago the movie/musical was great, the only thing I noticed that I didn't care for was that Renee was WAY to skinny.  Kinda unhealthy lookin'.

I think that is mean to pay someone cash to lose weight...kind of the same thing as being paid to go out with someone.

I don't see anything wrong if someone offers to pay her to lose the weight.  All they are doing is paying her to get back to her NORMAL weight.  Remember, she is not NORMALLY as heavy as she is now.

That said, a better endorsement opportunity for Reneé would be from Sunkist® Lemons.  Did you ever notice how on award shows she is always squinting and puckering as if she just sucked on a lemon?  And her face is always as greasy as all get out.

So here is her commercial:  "Hi ! I am Reneé Zellweger and I REALLY love to eat these delicious Sunkist® lemons.  And the lemon juice really cuts the grease on my cheeks !"

LOL!! That's soooo true! :D ;D

On the subject, I think the whole thing is lunacy at best. Diet companies need to disappear.
