Subject: Elliott Smith dies
Indie rock legend Elliott Smith was found dead from an apparent suicide :( ...this is a shame...he was a great musician..or at least his early stuff

The way he decided to kill himself (stabbing) is unusual for celebs and musicians, as well as unsettling and sad. Guns, pills, and hanging are so common in the news that we don't even consider that a sharp knife is something almost every home has. Very tragic. :'(

Rather bizarre way to kill himself, he had to have been very intent on doing it in this method. :-/

Really sad, its very poignant at the end of the film "American Beauty" when they play his version of The Beatle's hit "Because"..........

Yeah, I guess we'll have to go to the next level and have all butter and steak knives registered. That includes the usual regulations such as a limit of 4 knives in a household, must have it stored in a locked cabinet for safe keeping during transport and use, and no one under 16 can possess one unless accompanied by an adult. And we must be certified every two years by taking a knife handling safety course. :P
We must do everything within our power to remove these dangerous "assault knives" off the streets and out of our homes. After all, we don't have the right to knives, it's a priviledge. ;)

When I bought my daughter her first set of cutlery it had a warning sticker on the back saying that it couldn't be purchased by under 16's because it contained a knife. The blade is about 2 inches long and is about a millimetre thick on the sharp edge. You can't even really cut cooked veg with it!
Anyway back on topic after that little aside

I haven't heard of him but read an article about his suicide in the paper. My first thought was ouch. Pretty sad that he felt he needed to end his life, especially in the manner he did.
