You have some good points, but you don't need to have your kids involved in sports to build character. There is so much more to life than sports. I believe there are many more important things to be doing. Now having fun is all good, but the sports world needs changing. No Jocks would be nice :)
Only because they believe they are better than anyone else. Involve your kids in all sorts of stuff. Not just sports.
Try scouting, church, band, choir, acting, etc.

If you would of read closer you would have noticed that I don't just played videogames all day. That is probably 5% of my life. I am busy doing tons of other stuff. I mean, I have arm wrestled tons of Football players and I am stronger than they were. I could of been on the football team, but I have no real intrest in being a "Team Player". I guess I am a guy who likes sports where it doesn't matter if the team lost, it matters how well I personally did. Don't get me wrong I do wish I could play more video games, but I don't have the time or money right now.

Also, when I say Jocks I mean not just people who play sports. Here is my definition of Jocks:

Jocks: People who make sports thier lives. They dislike anyone who show no intrest in thier sports. Anyone not on thier "Team" is considered a Loser, Geek, Weakling, Freak, etc.
These are highly aggressive people who play too seriously. And forget the phrase "It's just a game". They are completely attached to sports and will get angry if you mess up.

See, That wasn't what you had in mind was it?? I know many people who play sports that aren't "Jocks", There were many friendly and nice sports players at my school. But there were also guys who were super aggressive and just downright cruel. Not that I got picked on, but some of my friends did and that made me really angry.

Side Note: I can actually tell that someone is a "Jock" almost right when I see them. Can anyone else do this??

A birdie is when you are one under par, and an eagle is two under par.  Par is when you get the ball into the hole in the number of hits/strokes that are defined for that particular hole.

I don't like watching golf on TV but I think it'd be fun and relaxing to play it :)  I like minigolf a lot though.

Responding to some of the previous posts about jocks:

I was an honors molecular biology student at Berkeley and I have been in biology and upper division biochemistry classes with rugby and football players who are extremely intelligent.  So I don't think it's fair to lump all athletes into the "jock" category.  In high school I have also had the honor of knowing many intelligent and delightful student-athletes and that was a very important part of my life (even though I despised high school).  Athletes have always been kind to me, even when I tried out for the basketball team and was cut because I was A) too short and B) sucked ass ;D

I think the term "jocks" came about because in many sports, the players wear jockstraps...(or maybe jockstraps were named after jocks???  ???)

The word "preppies" probably came from the word "prepare" because it seems that "preppies" take so long to prepare for the day...

I'm not sure bout this, it's only my guess...

IMO Games are more fun. If you lose playing a game it doesn't matter too much. In sport, you lose a chance of winning trophys, prestige etc.

;)being able to participate in sports as a child gave me SOMETHING to be successful in despite having some brain damage due to my mother's alcohol habit while she was pregnant with me. Sports gave me a way to become physically adept at certain things i.e. running, ball throwing,being able to do things other kids could do. Sports were also a MAJOR boost to my self-esteem,and I LOVED getting out there and running. The physical activity helped me control my hyper nature. When I got to High School,I tried out for the track team. Needless to say,I made the team. Even if our team lost,we still had fun. Now with my COPD,I can only walk a block. But I'm glad I was able to be involved in track and field,and I have a TREMENDOUS amount of RESPECT for runners like Carl Lewis(He's from Willingboro NJ by the way! :-*),Jackie Joyner-Kersee,and Mary Decker-Slaney! ;D

*OJ Simpson(way back in the day)

Look where they are now. ::)

Also, in many cases, fans would mob.  I think one time fans mobbed their own sports team for losing a big game(the Simpsons spoofed it once after I heard something like it on the news years ago, I forget the rest).  Then another team wins the Super Bowl the 2nd year in a row, and the fans celebrate by mobbing the whole city!

These people need to get a grip on reality.  There is more to life than sports.  And there's nothing wrong with people who don't play sports.  Remember, it's all just for fun.
