Subject: The Ring
I finally saw this last night, and its not scary at all! What do you guys think?
Subject: Re: The Ring
You're right, it's not scary AT ALL. It's a sucky movie! Not only that, but it doesn't even make sense! After I watched it I was like "huh?"
Subject: Re: The Ring
I too fell victim of all the over-hype of this movie, and went to see it.
I didn't think it was scary at all. But I will admit I thought the last 20 minutes was really good when everything finally started falling into place. but for the rest of themovie, it was pretty lame.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good horror movie (the key word is "good"), which doesn't happen very often these days. But "The Ring" was pretty lame, and doesn't even comapre to real horror classics such as: "The Excorcist" and "Nightmare on Elm Street".
Subject: Re: The Ring
I didn't scare me either, while I was watching it. But afterwards I kept thinking about it and was like "AH! MAKE IT STOP!"
What freaked me out though was on my "death date," well, I had shut down the computer, but forgot to turn it off. I was going to sleep then starting thinking about the girl coming out of the TV, then I pictured her coming out of my computer, and I turned around and the computer was glowing. " :o :o :o :o," said I.
Subject: Re: The Ring
Okay, The Ring was definetely a good movie, but you're totally right. It isn't scary. I watched it with my friend who DID think it was terrifing, but I certainly think Ringu is a better movie to be scared to.

Dude, that's totally what happened to me! I was like, trying to sleep and all, that night, but I, like, couldn't 'cuz I was all
like "can't sleep ring will get me can't sleep ring will get me." It was some freaky stuff, man.

Yeah, that's totally what I thought too. It freaked me out later, but like, while I was watching it, I was like, "Dude, this stuff doesn't make sense at ALL." Like, why was the girl on a tape, how'd she get on there, and, like, what happens when VCR's go obsolete, will the evil just be totally powerless and weak, or does it turn into a DVD or what?

lol, never thought of that...
but I was sleeping at my friend John's house the night I saw "The Ring," and that night I had to make sure the tv was on at all times I was awake and alert, but then I stopped and thought, Why am I afraid of this, this girl doesn't even excist! Seriously man, but throughout the entire movie, I wasnt scared at all...

When I watched it, I was with my friend in the middle of the day and everyone was home. But when my other friend watched it, she was alone in her house at night and the lights were out. I guess that could add to the fright. Darkness. ;D
Subject: Re: The Ring
Apparently the original Japanese version is the better one. ;D But i missed it when it was on Sci-Fi or something. :(
My mate phoned me when the sequal was on (2nd or 3rd one, i'm not sure) - Ring 0 i think it was called - but i'd been drinking spirits that night so i couldn't focus on the subtitles properly and because of that i couldn't follow the plot well enough, so i just went to sleep *shrugs*.

You mean "Ringu"? Thats the Japanese version. I'm not aware of there being any sequels.
Subject: Re: The Ring
I've seen the Japanese version of 'The Ring' (I haven't seen the American one). It is essentially a one trick pony (the man dying of fright in front of his television) and was the true scare. I had seen nothing like it in my life.
The terror of the film started inflicting itself on me after I watched it (like what happened to MyLighthouse and My name is Kenny) because it plays with your mind. You have watched the 'forbidden' tape (the tape was created in such a way that made you feel like that) as well as the characters have. Then I see visions of the girl menacingly floating until she crawls through the telly - I couldn't sleep that night!
Subject: Re: The Ring
Well, there are at least 2 - and maybe 3 - Japanese films.
The first one may be called Ringu i'm not sure but my mate told me it was simply called Ring, maybe that's the title of the dubbed version, i don't know.
Anyway, the one i saw while considerably inebriated was called Ring 0; come to think of it, i think i remember my mate telling me this one was the prequal - and from the name, that makes sense.

In Japanese, there are indeed three films. They are a prequel, Ringu and a third installment. Unfortunately, I don't know the names of the two films. I do know the prequel covers the history of the little girl with depth and detail and explains the circumstances in Ringu in relation to her birth, her oddities and what her mother did in order to "have" her.
Wait.....
Ah! Here it all is:
Ringu O - The prequel
Ringu 2

If it's in Japanese how are you supposed to understand what they're saying? When I watch Japanese movies on the International Channel I have to make up what's going on.

I agree. It was as bad as the "Blair Witch Project" flicks. :P
