Subject: Where are we going???!??!!
I believe this Decade has had its ups and downs.
UPs.
1. Video Games
2. Movies
3. Music
DOWNs.
1. T.V. (reality T.V.)
2. Economy (Literally Down)
3. Fashion (Still the 90s!)
Overall I just wonder where we are going! I want some sort of exciting new change in these next few years. I'm talking fads and fashions that will make the 00s feel like the 00s and not the stinking 90s! I want some cool new technolgy perhaps. Or, perhaps even new clothes. We are in a different CENTURY FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Subject: Re: Where are we going???!??!!
The "year of the poser" is sadly, the most defining moment as far as music goes. The so-called punk trend is going on, although all it is is pop music recreated through a different person with a different image, which is a misleading one.

Music up? No way, music has been down every since 1980...and its only gotten worse every year...music is another down...

I like music from all decades, but I can kind of agree with you here. There are some certain bands who are going up though, like Matchbox Twenty, Sugar Ray, Coldplay and Weird Al for example (I think his new album was an improvement from his last at least).

you know Leb, Ive finally realized the difference...for one, listen to the drumbeat in today's music, and listen to it in a song from the 60s, then listen to the riffs in a Zepp song, and then listen to present day riffs...It seems kinda like music today takes a lot less effort to write and preform...

Still the 90s! Darling, I disagree with ya there, lol.
Do you see what people are wearing these days, it's crazy! Men are wearing skirts, belly shirts, and eyeliner.. in the 90s it was flannel shirts and jeans. Tatoos were not very cool in the 90s, unless you were a drug dealer or a rapper. Now a days even senior citizens have a tatoo and, like sixty million body peircings.
But I do agree with the rest ;D

The 60's were a different time. I don't expect today's music to sound like the 60's because music has to evolve. I do agree though the last few years of music has gone downhill. There is no quality to it. I think 1996 was the last good year of music. 1997-1998 was ok. 1999+ has been downhill. Teen-pop and rappers who have 3 artists all the time on a song has been a constant problem. Sean Paul the reggae artist is like on 3 different songs with different artists now. Ja Rule was on so many songs as a guest artist in 2001-2002. Its more about marketing yourself(artist wise)than it ever has been in the music industry currently. Where would Jennifer Lopez's musical career be without all these rappers on her songs? With out Ja Rule her musical career would not still be alive.

Well todays fashion is what the hip hop artists wear. No way in the 80's and early 90's would you see somebody in the suburbs wearing baggy jeans. Now its a common thing. Most fashions used to be determined by Rock musicians(grunge era) and pop music(disco era and the 80's Pop/R&b era.) Now the fashion is baggy jeans and brand name stuff because hip-hop culture is so popular in the suburbs now. I expect it to stay that way for some time. Maybe 20 years. I don't think Hip-Hop is going away anytime soon. As long as hip-hop is around the fashion will stay.

I have no Idea what you are talking about. NOBODY dresses like that here in Illinois, I don't know where you are from but, I would think I guy looked ridiculous if he wore a belly shirt and what else you said. To be more blunt I would think the guy was flamming gay!!!
Also, Senior citizens have nothing to do with current fashion trends and, I also have not seen such.
You must really live in a Lake of Fire of Brimstone if you know what I mean. Your local fashion trends are odd and gay!

My 2 cents:
Video Games: They have improved as technology has improved. Think back to when Atari came out and compare it to the electronic and technology of that time. As technology improved and advanced, so did video games.
Movies: Thats debatable. I can think of tons of great movies from the 80's-early 90's, but only a few from this decade. I would consider movies to be down.
Music: DEFINITELY down. I'm sorry, but most of the stuff some people consider to be music lately, doesn't even compare to music of the past decades. But to each his own.
TV: I agree there. TV is definitely down. Its amazing how with satellite we can watch nearly 200 channels now, yet there's never anything worth watching.
Fashion: Definitely down. I am so sick and tired of seeing peoples butt crakcs and boxer shorts hanging out of their pants that are hanging down to their knees. Its amazing how a fashion trend that looks so utterly stupid can be so popular.

Now you can play Atari on your very own home computer.

Every decade sucks save for the one you grew up in.
The only fasion holdover from the nineties are the falling-down-pants style. I still remember our sixth grade teacher telling us how ridiculous it was.
My God! '96 was that long ago!?

I still think Super Mario Land 3 was the greatest game ever made.
I never did get to Bowser, though...

If you have a game boy advance or a Game Boy Player, then you should buy Mario Advance 4, which is a slightly upgraded Mario Brothers 3 game! You are talking about the 3rd Mario game for the original Nintendo are you not?

Yup. That's the one. I was introduced to it by a friend of mine around 1990. I had no video game system, so I only played it a few times at his house. I really got to play it when Super Mario Allstars came out for Super Nintendo. I got past that ship thing in Bowserland, but no further. (Thanks, magic whistle!)

Ahhh, Super Mario Brothers. Those were the days.
I remember there was this TV show on FOX in the mid-90's I think called "Secrets Reveled", about secrets about different things. One of them being: How to get the Secret Whistles on Super Mario Bros. 3! :D
I remember I immediately bought that game and promptly beat it, thanks to that TV show revealing the secrets of how to win at Super Mario Bros by obtaining the "secret" whistles. :)
Ahhhhhh, memories.

music is down, video games are down for me because I've gotten older and outgrew them. TV is down because all of the good shows have faded away (seinfeld, cheers, married with children etc)
fashion is still the late 90's for the most part, but we seem to be 1000 years away from the glorious grungy early 90's. Nowadays all girls look the same with the stupid flip flops, glossy lipstick and smutty pants & tops, every guy looks like a roid freak in a stupid tank top and they're all driving neon colored honda accords.....pathetic
Subject: Re: Where are we going???!??!!
How come I don't have a Honda accord? I want a ripped body and a Honda Accord!

Uh no that would be neon Civic's. I don't understand painting your car a neon color. It just looks nasty. Now we have orange 04 Pontiac Grand Prix's and 04 Nissan Maxima's that are orange on the car market. I don't like orange on an exterior of a car.
