Subject: Mike Davis: The Good Marxist

Mike Davis. Author of City of Quartz, Ecology of Fear, Magical Urbanism.
Seems this guy makes up facts to suit his dark Marxist vision. And makes huge money off it.
Guess truth doesn't matter if you can spin an entertaining enough tale of urban American angst.

I had a friend called Mike Davis. He thought he was black. He had bright blonde hair so we called him Albino. :)

Sounds a lot like the Mike Davis that coach's Indiana's basketball team. ;)

Aaa, don't think this writer is the same Mike Davis.

Oh, come on! Marxism is about the most intelectually complex political thought process there is. It is hardly dark. I think it's beautiful.
I don't know much about the guy, or his book, but I know what I believe.
I don't know where I'm going with this, so I'm stopping right here and eating dinner.
Subject: Re: Mike Davis: The Good Marxist
I didn't think so. Actually, the Mike Davis I was referring to doesn't have any opinion of Marxism, or apparrently, basketball.

Mock me not, sir. I have to participate in Capitalism just as you have to participate in Communism (if you have ever belonged to a family, you have existed in a communist society.)
It's beyond my control. And we had Tortellinni (I kan't spel)

I dunno, some families can be quite right-wing in structure.

The father and/or mother earn the capital and divide it among themselves and their children each according to their need. Sounds like communism to me. STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU COMMIES! ;D
Subject: Re: Mike Davis: The Good Marxist
Some families the father drinks all the money away and the kids and mother don't speak up for fear of physical reprisals for their words when the father is 'merry'. That's an extreme example, granted.
