Subject: My Dog...
I need some advice with what to do with my dog. My dog is getting very old, and he *was* well trained. My problem is that my dog is loosing control of his bowels. I don't know what to do. It was fustrating when I had to clean up after him once a week, which started a few months ago. Now it is a daily thing. I make sure to walk him OFTEN, night and day. He was okay for the past 12 years, but now he just go's all the time. I could let him out every 30 minuites and he would still make his mistake. Has anyone had a pet with this problem before?

There is no way I am putting a diper on my dog.
I think I will take him to the vet.

Huy, well, personally, i can't think of any other solutions.

I had the same problem with a cat. I resisted having to put her down and she finally went on her own which I was kind of grateful for and releived-even though I was sorry too. She was 17 years old. It is very hard. I know. You want to make the right choice but you always question yourself. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I believe in nature taking its course. The reason I mentioned the Vet is because I was thinking they may have some medicine or something. My dog loves human food, but now I can not give it to him because it makes it worse. Before he used to beg for some chicken or steak (or even onions or tomatos, my dog was a vacum cleaner), but now even he knows he can't have any. He just goes and gets his dog food and sits next to me by the dinner table and crunches away.

So he's having a BM or is it also a problem with bladder control?
Maybe you need to change his food? Possibly having trouble digesting what he's eating.
If you can't get him to go outside all the time, have you tried using those training pads on the floor to help with the clean up?
I guess talking to your vet is probably the best thing to do.

Your vet may recommend a change in diet, that's probably your best bet. It's tough when they get old. Sympathies :'(
