Subject: Any Linux experts here, I need help!
Written By: John_Seminal on 06/29/03 at 07:32 p.m.
I have an older machine and I would like to use talk or ytalk. Whenever I try and start it, I get a "segmentation fault" error. Can anyone explain what this is?

Basically, the program crashed.
This might be due to (for instance) the program being out of synch with the system software. Did you copy the talk program from a newer version of Linux?

I got it to work. My system (p166) is so old I can not get an X windows system. There is a file in ytalk which runs some X-server program. By telling ytalk not to use the X-server, it works.
