Wise move! I'm not sure where the term "Ebonics" came from, but I can tell you, for what its worth, that in terms of Spanish, the Royal Acadamy of Language in Spain has held that every form of the Spanish language, sland included, is acceptable Spanish. Just as an example, in Puerto Rico "guagua" is slang for bus. In Chile, its slang for baby. I can tell you that THAT led to some confusion when I lived in Chile. I think that regionalisms and "ethnicisms" enrich the language, and should not be characterized with names that could be considered derogatory.

What does the Latino phrase:
OR-A-LAY mean?
Always wondered! How do you spell it?
Does it mean like "right on!"???
I hear Latin dudes say it on occasion, Mexicans. No offense. Just wanna know, dudes!

Eh? Sorry, but what's offensive about 'ebonics'? It comes from 'ebony' right?
The only problem i can see with that is that it confuses race with culture.
