Subject: Rosie O'Donnell sued for hitting 71yr old in mouth
This is so stupid. Apparently, a 71 yr old woman was hit in the mouth by one of those rubber balls Ms./Mr ??? O'Donnell used to slingshot into the audience.
And apparently that was a $3,000,000 injury. ::)

NEW YORK -- A 71-year-old Westchester County woman has sued the producers of Rosie O'Donnell's defunct talk show for $3 million, saying she was hit in the mouth with a hard rubber ball while she was in the studio audience.
Lucille DeBellis, of Hartsdale, N.Y., said she was at a taping of "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" in Manhattan on Nov. 29, 2001, when a show staffer used a slingshot-type device to fire an object called a "cuzball" _ or koosh ball _ into the audience during the warm-up.
DeBellis, invited to the show by a friend who had tickets, says in papers filed in Manhattan's state Supreme Court that the ball struck her "squarely in the mouth, causing her to suffer pain and swelling, as well as bleeding in her gums."

I'm thinking that they pretty much knew what Rosie does on the show before they go on, and even if they didn't there's probably some kind of network disclaimer that tells them to pay attention once the koosh balls come a-flyin'.
Koosh balls aren't that hard though...hmmm...
This is akin to the parents with cell phones and young children sitting in the seats on the 1st or 3rd base lines, where there's no protective netting and at any second a foul line drive could rip off a kid's head...unless they pay attention ;)

Sometimes bad things happen to nice people...oh wait....you're talking about Rosie "Hypocrite" O'Donnell....the big believer in banning firearms and yet makes sure her body guards have them ::) I do agree that the 71 year old is a fool though.

That don't necessarily make her a hypocrite, just scared

$3M for a bit of gum swelling? I hope the judge throws it out as trivial.

It's a shame but in Britain, America is being given a reputation as the 'Lawsuit' capital of the world :-/.
The trouble is, we are getting that way ourselves! There are so many 'Claims' companies that are itching to take huge chunks of people's settlements.
I believe there was a case in Britain where a lady wanted to sue the local council because she tripped on the pavement!

This latest attempt at litigating lunacy reeks of the McDonald's lawsuit where an 80 year old grandmother was award millions of dollars because she burned her crotch by spilling their coffee while she was at the drive-thru window. Like she didn't have any other to put it. I hope Rosie doesn't fall victim to this dowager's scheme. Then again... :-/

I don't know, Phil... it does seem very hypocritical to me to rail against something, and then turn around and make sure you have access to the very thing you speak out against. IMO, if she is going to talk the talk, then she should also walk the walk. Lead by example, so to speak.

Don't feel bad, here in America we consider ourselves the 'Lawsuit' capital of the world, too. Not that that is a good thing. :-X
